| Hill has come through our scholoship and academy and is a Leigh Bread player........ We only got battered every week becyase we had 6 weeks to make a squad..... If we had three years like you we'd be in the top 6 without a question of a doubt! Just like Hull KR or Huddersfeild

[i:1l4oyr1y[size=150:1l4oyr1y"[/size:1l4oyr1yAt the start, I really did want crusaders to survive you know I really did, but i got thinking...imagine this (self indulgent) scenario...a parallel universe, where we have people in charge of the RFl who listen to the people, and who have patience and vision, rather than short term quick fix solutions.... and this was the scenario...
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
A new team arrive in C2 - Celtic crusaders. A small fan base to start with, but with a bit of strategic publicity and a discount on entry fees provided by the RFL in a 3 year club startup deal (which did not involve the inclusion of ANY overseas players, but a grant to provide RL facilities for the club to start a U21's/academy side to encourage and develop local talent) the club develops a decent size fanbase over a period of 5 years. Some rugby union supporters and player converts to the code, and they develop about 500 season ticket holders.
In another 4 years, after a few attempts, they win promotion to C1, and now have a fanbase of about 800 Season ticket holders. fans from other clubs are now used to this club, and look forward to the banter provided by enthusiastic welsh fans. They are relegated the same year after a heroic relegation scrap with Batley.
In two years they return to C1 and finish mid table. Fanbase grows to an average of 1000 fans, and they slowly progress and do well. They become an established an well respected side, and when they finally earn inclusion into superleague 3 years later, every fan from other clubs wishes them well, because they have existed for 14 years, and EARNED the respect of other fans and clubs through blood, grit, and welsh determination. They now have a solid academy side and structure, and the long established financial structure and experience to be self sufficient and develop Welsh talent. 10 years later, Wales shock England with a surprise win in a world cup play off welsh coach Harris described as 'elated'
All this because the RFL were patient and had the vision to realise that the club had to establish itself for other fans to take it seriously. I honestly believe every other fan want new clubs to do well and expand, as long as it is a fair system, but now this mickey mouse gypsy team has lost its credibility. I feel for their fans i do, as they have to travel all over the country to support their team, and they deserve better.
Imagine a little bit of common sense...[size=150[/i
Most think I'm againsy any kind of expansion. The above is what I believe to be the best way. However, the above also doesn't count for the "I want it, I want it now or I'm not playing" from LS or from the RFL accept his hurriedness in the search of short term unsustainable growth!!!
However, once the RFL decided to go for S.Wales, they should stay there. That's where the fan base is, however few of you. To go to Wrexham makes little sense whatsoever.
I can't see a future for the SL club under these circumstances and as the proposed S Wales club is not independent from the parent club, you have to fear for RL in Wales.
The RL got it spectacularly wrong. LS was/is impatient. The games management is in disaray!

I think you should do the honest thing and hang your boots up, and let a PROPER TRADITIONAL team take your place in super league...
Do you guys think your an artificial, fake, manufactured, rugby union fanned team? Do you agree you make super league a lower competive league?'"
Congratulations with less than three weeks left in the year and despite some strong competition you've won the spouting complete and utter crap post of the year.
Well done and the trophy on it's way to you in the post, if you didn't live in a cave you could have put it on the mantlepiece. Now toddle off back to your cave and keep exercising your right arm.

| The RFL are very supportive of Rugby League in Wales. And however 'comical/pathetic' it may seem to others, we are stuck with it, for now. Personally i don't know why they bother with Wales/London/Gateshead, but they do. So 'winding' the actual fans up on a message board, does no good whatsoever (i know i've tried).
Or maybe my posts just weren't "bitch/funny" enough !!!

Why do you lot always mention our 'sole season' in the promised land.
Why have had 'many seasons' in the top flight, and even won the damn thing once.

Because you spent one season in super league. Simple, really.
You were a force many, many years ago for a short while. Trouble is, no one really remembers them any more, because most who witnessed it are probably dead now.

Doesn't strengthen your argument that Leigh have won the top flight division once in the last 100 years, and that was 27 years ago.
FWIW, I think Crusaders will fail in Wrexham, and maybe won't last the season. I do think, however, the steady growth plan in Neath will work, I wish them well, and it will be good for the game if it does work. The RFL didn't ruin the Crusaders, it was Samuels, with his "now or never" approach. The game is well shut of him, and now the Welsh boys can get on with doing what they have done in the South East, and that is spread the word at grass roots level and grow the game slowly.

Twice actually , and it was only brought up in respnse to others ' having a go '
As for the , who is to blame , then i'm sorry , all party,s are culpable , had you been down to bridgend and seen the set up before they were given a licence ?
I had , along with many others who could see they were no where near ready , surely deep down the RFL knew this as well
When Les Cats were preparing to enter SL they requested an extra season to get ready , perhaps the same thing should have happened here , if it was a case of now or never , all that tells us is that it was being done for the wrong reasons , which also should have been obvious to the RFL
As for now , all efforts should be made to make both clubs a success , as well as trying to retain any progress in Bridgend

Once, according to the Leigh site. The other time was 103 years ago.
The problem is that Samuels wasn't having the "three more years" option (and a one year option wasn't available, due to licensing). He put the RFL in an impossible position, as they were faced with the choice of either letting Samuels pull the plug on Welsh RL or giving them a go. Everyone knew it was too early, and I suspect the RFL did, but the alternative was just as bad. At least there was a chance it could have worked out with the Crusaders in Super League.

Nice try, my friend, but Wakey have won it twice too, in 1966-7 and 1967-8. As for Cas, of course:

Pedantic b ugger
Which just suggests that the franchise process itself should not have specific time limits , but if you do that then you alienate the lower tier clubs even more
So what is the answer ?

| We have spent only one season in Sl and yes we were the whipping boys, the difference is we were there on merrit! If we had been exempt from relegation for a couple of seasons then who knows maybe we could have become competative, but they were not the rules at the time.
The rules for the latest SL franchise application were well documented what we all now know is that all you need to do is lie, tell the officials you will get a new stadium, you do have a fan base and the financial package to support that level of rugby. I am not aiming these comments at Celtic but the RFL and every other club who still do not fullfill all of the criteria laid down. To be able to fullfill more of these criteria than some teams playing in the top division but not being given an oportunity because of your geographical position is wrong.
I am not against expansion but what has gone on with Celtic has been rushed and badly managed, that said they are not the only team still in SL under false pretences,
