There are some funny things going on-or not.I had presumed that Naiqama would be coming as a full back as this is clearly the crucial weakness in the team. Our coach claims we also need a half back-true.a second line-true and a prop.I would have thought that we need at least 3 more props since we have lost 4.I certainly think we need another centre as well. I don't think we need to replace Pelissier.It looks like an attempt has been made to get Bird ,but he is too expensive.Should we take a risk with Campese and-or Kelly. I hope that this afternoon's came has given us all food for thought. I have a ticket for the final-I even thought at one stage that we'd be there !

Campese god no. Are you mad?? He has basically been injured for 2 years. Kelly would be a possible but looks like they are going for players with good tempraments. Gigot is a good full back, I do not think he is a weakness at all. Naiqama is not a full back.

I thought that Gigot played well during the first part of the season. After that he made for too many unforced errors and I do not think that he is good enough to play full back. I would use him at centre instead of Duport if Inu is fit. I am not denying what you say about Campese,but he has been very good on the rare occasions that he has been fit.We do need a good five-eight ,as the Aussies call the position, and Bosc is no longer it.

Benji Marshall or Albert Kelly would be far far better options

Not seen much of the NRL lately, remember him being very solid a few years ago though.

Didn't have an amazing year but still solid. Was one of the best props in the game 2-3 years ago. Should be one of the best in super league. Great signing imo.

I met some Catalan fans ,who seemed to know what's been going on,at the grand final.It would appear that the rumors about Carney,Taylor and Escare are true.The club will not be employing any more Australians in the near future and want to have 18 Frenchmen in the squad of 25 by 2020.My sources claim the contracts of the terrible trio will have to be paid up in full.I commented that in that case we might as well keep them and that if there were 18 Frenchmen in the squad-given that only Bousquet has come through during the last 5 years-we would be relegated.They seemed to think that the club's prospects are fine.
They agreed that Pelissier was too much an individual player,but would not express a view as to how and why Garcia was always picked at centre.They like our English players and want more of them.The match itself was played at an intensity wit which we would not have been able to cope.

Garcia was picked at centre because of a lack of anyone else to play there with Gigot having to play full back. It is clear they will not play Garcia at centre when we have fit centres.

Of course they will employ aussies and kiwis, they are talking rubbish. We have literally just signed Sam Moa.

You also can't put Escare in the same boat as Taylor and Carney, I am almost certain he does not have the same off the field issues that Carney and Taylor have.

I think Morgan has suffered from not being able to back up that first season.

Also once people got into him for being a bad defender he stopped being as good going forward.

And when he played we werent using him properly. He was devastating at pushing with offloads and also being the last link runner round the back

I feel that it is unfair to tell you the identity of my sources,but I am very confident of their veracity, and I shall say that they were not just "ordinary fans." They lump Escare with Carney and Taylor.They say "no more Australians" .New Zealanders,Islanders and Brits are not Australians. My opinion is that Escare's defence was bad in 2014,2015 and 2016. Most of his successful attacks came on the left flank,often feeding off Taia, and our opposition got wise.My sources ,however, are of the view that Escare was physically unfit this year As I said before Escare was our best player in his last match for the club and by the end of the season I wanted Gigot at centre and Escare at full back ,because Garcia was playing so badly.The thing I find hard to accept is that the club is going to pay 2 years salary to get three players,one of whom has been outstanding this year,off the books.I also think that 18 Frenchmen good enough for superleague do not exist and will not exist in 2020.Indeed Casty Bosc Duport and probably Baitieri will be gone by then.

Why would Todd Carney be leaving? St George-Illawarra cannot sign him because the NRL won't allow it. He would seem to have no other option than Catalans.
