Have we left our defence in the south of France - just awful. Marks out of 10 0 for the lot of them. Correction 7 for bosq as he kicked the difficult conversions.

escare- 8 MOM for cats imo. caught everything thrown at him, looked dangerous when we put him in space, just not enough good ball
yaha - 6 had ball stripped off him in his major chance however his defensive positioning is improving
duport- 7 defensively frail but set up 2 of our tries and looked very dangerous when we actually got him the ball in space
gigot- 6.5 looked dangerous and better defensively but made a couple of stupid offloads which turned the ball over
broughton- 5 not much to do and not much to comment on, looked to be carrying an injury
bosc- 4 terrible game from bosco. defensively all over the place and looked off the pace. amazing conversion however
myler- 6 difficult for him with bosc playing so bad but did not take on the line once, dont think he got tackled with the bal. playing injured??
casty- 6 decent but no real impact
da costa- 6 decent, one good break and defensively solid
maria- 6 okay but perhaps a little out of his depth, still 10x better than anything mason could produce however
horo- 7.5 really good from him. kept going and got through a ton of work
taylor- 6 looked a tad unfit for 2nd row but was threatening however not up to his previous high levels. pushed the ball when we were behind which resulted in a lot of errors but we were chasing the game
garcia- 7.5 got through a hell of a lot work and tackled like a beast
mounis- 5.5 anonymous
bousquet- 6.5 good try but still looks to be carrying that little injury he has atm
navarette- 5.5 out of his depth a little but still solidish
pellisier- 6 not running enough, not sure whether the coach has told him not too (seems unlikely)


missed carney as bosco had a terrible game. myler still looks injured. pellisier is not good enough to be a teams main hooker imo, worrying with aiton probably not to pull on a shirt for us again.

but its a long season, need to regroup for the middle 8s and get players fit.

Some very generous marks given there considering the game was wrapped up after an hour by a team who haven't won at home since April with 12 out injured....

I too was there and as a Catalan fan I think some very generous marks given

I am away and had to follow the match with increasing despair via Twitter. I am amazed that Duport and Escare were our best players. This means that Duport must have successfully executed two passes. The Twitter feed claimed that Escare kicked the ball out directly from a kick off and that this led to another try.
It seems that without Stewart to lead and organise the defence, we just fall back into our old ways.
Next week's game against Wakefield has now become pivotal to our whole season in terms of keeping us in the top four and getting an extra home match.

I dont know what you all expect from a side without carney and an injured myler to do. The problem was in the halves.

Escare had a fine game, Horo and Garcia were very good and so was Duport apart from one defensive misread that led to one of their tries.

The rest were average but with no fit halves they lacked decent structure and direction

I have now seen the resume .Escare is perfecting the gallic shrug as he disowns his own defensive responsibilities. The injured halfbacks do not explain why our forwards could not defend simple balls down the middle.Duport,by no means for the first time,broke the cardinal rule of coming out of the defensive line without good reason.However ,I did not see the other 70 minutes.

Full credit to the catalan fans at the game, hope bar the result you had a good time. I wasn't sticking the boot in saying I thought the marks were generous. The first 20 minutes was absolutely horrendous from both sides, error afree error, illl disciplined, cas failing to make touch, cats dropping it first tackle. Filth. We just happened to click between 30 and 50. You lot do have a couple of weeks to get it right though.

O.K I shall leave Escare alone in the hope we sign a full back for next season who is not French .This means that he may have the ability to catch the SHORT high ball ,because he has played cricket,that he can and will tackle properly,that he will do more in possession than running a few metres,but never passing,and that he will not suffer delusions about his ability to kick.I thank Escare for his brilliant attacking performances-often feeding off the second line-2 years ago,but our opponents have worked him and us out.

Well against Cas he took about 6 attacking kicks from gale under pressure, he was our biggest threat along with duport and horo with the ball and he was also our best kicker, so i disagree with everything youve said there

If he maintains that form I shall take it all back. It took me a long time to regard him as a liability,but that is what he has been in most games that he has played this year. As I said I did not see the Cas. game.Perhaps a swallow can make a summer.
