| It's clear that Div 5 will once again be a very competitive place to play this season.
Some big changes will happen at Newton in the next week or so...watch this space!!

| Quote ="Cronus" Hate to say it but you did get pulled on one 'trip' on our number 8; he put on a good step out wide on your right (our left) in the 2nd half - the touch judge definitely flagged it and the ref gave us a penalty.
The way I saw it you were putting the leg out and then grabbing for the shirt? I know the old 'Alfie Langer' style tackle is legal, but didn't think your technique was? I stand to be corrected...
'"
That was for a high tackle mate by another member of the team, i did my Paul Scholes effort but another lad went too high too.
Good luck for rest of season

| Quote ="JONNYG_WILDBOARS"whats your predictions for this week??? got them all right last week
bolton to beat bulldogs
cuthberts to beat chorley
eccleston to beat bury sorry cronus hope u win tho
newton to beat west houghton should be a close 1 i think
wild boars to beat rylands should be tasty
crossfields to beat widnes'"
Some very close ones again - reckon Bolton will be too strong for Wigan, St Cuthbert's over Chorley, gotta go with Bury over Eccleston, Newton-Westhoughton will be very tight, having played and beaten them both in the last month it's hard to call but just gonna give it to Newton, Wild Boars should just pip Rylands in another close one, and Crosfields over Widnes.
Bolton Mets vs Wigan Bulldogs
Chorley Panthers vs Wigan St Cuthbert's A
Eccleston Lions vs Bury Broncos
Newton Storm vs Westhoughton Lions
St Helens Wild Boars vs Rylands Sharks A
Widnes Tigers vs Crosfields

| St.Helens Wild Boars 24-10 Rylands
lots off mistakes from both sides today but our defence was awsome!! we was down to 9 men at 1 point through sin bins but we held them out.. we switched off last 15 mins and let them score twice. good team effort from our boys

| Eccleston Lions 30 - 18 Bury Broncos
We just didn't switch on. Eccleston started strong but couldn't break us down and Bury scored first, then it was tit-for-tat with Bury deservedly leading 10-12 at half time. First 15 mins of the second half we were awful, couldn't tackle, kept dropping the ball in our 20, giving penalties away, etc. A team as strong as Eccleston will always punish that and ran in 3 tries. Thought Eccleston were good, seemed to read our game and controlled the ruck area very well, ran hard and their defence was tight (though we didn't help by sending our forwards in one at a time!!). And they seem to be getting bigger!!!
Other results:
Bolton Mets 16 - 34 Wigan Bulldogs
Chorley Panthers 22 - 26 Wigan St Cuthbert's A
Newton Storm 6 - 24 Westhoughton Lions
St Helens Wild Boar 24 - 10 Rylands Sharks A
Widnes Tigers 14 - 12 Crosfields

No, still trying to get my knee fixed. Played against you last year at our place though.
Yeah was a good entertaining game and played in good spirit, you boys took control for longer periods than we did and did the what I was trying to tell our lot to do! God knows why, but they didn't listen.
Looking forward to the return! (might be fixed by then)

Have faith!
A couple of new faces will be joining the existing coaching staff at Newton Storm this week. Both coaches are from Newton and are experienced Academy coaches from a SL club. Some new players will be joining the team too, two/three for sure on Tuesday this week with others to follow in coming weeks.
All the lads have bought into what the club are trying to do and hopefully this will give the OA a big boost and will help them turn things around.

| Week 3:
Bury Broncos vs Widnes Tigers
Crosfields A vs Chorley Panthers
Rylands Sharks A vs Wigan Bulldogs
St Helens Wild Boars vs Newton Storm
Westhoughton Lions vs Eccleston Lions
Wigan St Cuthbert's A vs Bolton Mets
Hard to call again this week, but I reckon nearly all home wins this week. Obviously I'm going for Bury against Widnes, Crosfields-Chorley looks to be yet another tight one: Chorley seem to have strengthened but I'm going with Crosfields simply with them being at home. Rylands-Bulldogs, also going with Rylands with them at home; think Wild Boars will have too much for Newton, Westhoughton-Eccleston could be tight with Westhoughton having a good win last week but think Eccleston will have too much power, and Bolton seem to have had a poor start while Cuthberts have started well.

| Seems we're competing in another mini-league!!!!
Just noticed that Wild Boars have joined pitch-hero and currently, Hindley, followed by Chorley, are the two most viewed rugby league club sites on the whole pitch-hero network!

| Bury Broncos 46 - 6 Widnes Tigers
Widnes went 0-6 up after 2 minutes (one them shouted "easy!"icon_wink.gif, and were never in it after that. Some champagne RL today, ran well, threw the ball around and were solid in defence. Widnes were a few lads down I think and kept going but to be honest we kept them out the game. Great performance!!
