Not saying you accept every decision, just drop the victim tag. Not every decision is a personal attack on us, it's a wonder we win any matches as the refs are so biased.

| just on the gardner one, we were more or less in line with it and we all thought straight away it was out, it was only when i watch the re-run that i saw it wasn't, so you can hardly blame the TJ for making a split second decision.
and as has been stated above it was the VR that gave the worst call of the night with the obstruction, even though the grounding would have been touch & go.
don't forget that you scored your first try off the back of a wrong call and gardner's try could have gone either way on another day or without the screen.
every club gets wrong calls against us, we have had 3 games go against us this year on perceived wrong calls, the officials don't go out to cheat a club, they, like players make mistakes, it's not nice when it seems those mistakes cost you but that's life.
as for thursday, the booing, jeering and crying was embarrassing and laughable, you fans are so much better when you get behind your team rather than whingeing for a penalty every set.

| The only things I can think of Frankie is that of course half the opposition team was still pre-occupied with the breaking scrum, Stanley was unbelievably fast for a scrum-half / stand-off, and Rovers just had vastly superior timing and experience to the other teams (hence we won the old Division 2 two years running IIRC).

NO we do not every team has the same but the refs are rubbish, no matter what game you watch I bet you can pick faults with the ref but till we get some better refs we have to grin and bear it and hope the idiots in the stands shut up

| It will still take some time for the core east standers to cool off blaming the officials but Neil has now led the way.
FWIW The luck of the bounce of the ball against gardner, a loose pass a metre from their line and Hall's regular 1 knock on at an important moment lost us the game.
Obstruction rule IS still stupid the way its used at thd moment though. The most embarrassing game for this was Cas vs Wigan (the cup game I think) that was televised. The rule is destroying free flowing moves at the mo.

I agree, ref standards are poor, but they're humans, don't have eyes in the backs of their heads and can only rule on what they see. A ref makes hundreds, probably thousands of decisions in a game and the vast majority are right. I don't think we'll ever get away from human error but hopefully we'll move to 2 refs from next season which works well in the NRL and games are much more open with teams being kept apart and the rucks being policed effectively.
I don't believe that refs are biased, just incompetent

Actually, what is ruining the game is opposition teams running into defenders and taking them out of the game on most plays near the opposition line. There's no skill in getting in a defender's way allowing someone to score off the back of it. I agree some are marginal but taking out defenders is against the rules and I hope the clampdown deals with it.

Totally agree, the coaches are much more to blame for ills of the game than the refs. The game is getting away from its original skills and becoming more like American Football by the season.
The coaches instruct players to deliberately run into the oppositions line , its the coaches that instruct players to put their hands on the ball and mess about in the tackles, its the coaches who instruct players to apply pressure to attackers whilst getting off a tackle, its the coaches who practice and preach wrestling the opponent rather than good tackling technique...
All this out the back play and the 10m rule meaning the need to slow down the play the ball is making the game ugly in the majority of instances...

I think this is right.
The obstruction rule is really annoying me, but you are spot on as to why it happens and it needs clamping down on. Some of the replays now are becoming embarrassing for the sport.
Going on the other points, and in relation to the theme on this thread, I think what annoys fans is the perception some teams appear to get away regularly with holding down (for example)
I do think that Rovers fans are getting carried away with the victim tag and needs to stop.

couldn't agree more, you see less and less tries scored by genuine skill and trickery these days.

Banter aside I have to say much respect mate. And you're totally right about what can you do, similar to when our 1500 home fanbase used to get slated - those of us who went would be constantly plugging the club to stay-aways but tbf it was only SL rugby that could bring them back.

I agree up to a point, but it's the job of coaches to squeeze every last bit of advantage for their team, without being penalised. As Patrick Viera said after Muller dived in the Germany Portugal world cup game, to the outraged Adrian Childs and Lee Dixon, if you don't want players doing it change the rules, it's the same with RL.
Clear up ball steals by saying either anything goes, however many are involved in the tackle etc, or out law it all together. Make it so a pass has to actually travel backwards, non of this flat pass business. And for fecks sake, lets's go back to having to treat referees with absolute respect, it really is getting more and more like football, and recent incidents with Peacock, Brough and Weyman highlight this. Did anyone on here play amateur back in Albert Speckmans era, you could look at him the wrong way and be penalised or sent off, but the that respect was something the game could rightly be proud of, and could be easily restored by adoptin g a zero tolerance policy to this behaviour.
There's stacks of areas, such as wrestling, dummy runners, play the balls that could be "cleaned up" but as long as there are loop holes, the coaches wouldn't be doing their jobs if they didn't maximise their teams chances to win by exploiting them.

| The whole obstruction thing is confusing me now. To my mind there are 2 forms of obstruction. 1 where a player clearly hides behind his own player to prevent a tackle....and then there is the one which is causing all the problems. The whole idea of a dummy runner is to confuse the defenders and get them to tackle the wrong player. So now what is happening is defenders are intentionally running at dummy runners to force the penalty. So to my mind this problem is now past the point of an easy fix and someone somewhere is going to have to make a decision, as this can't go on as it is.

| we can slag the official's off as much as we like but they didn't leave Josh Hodgson with a 1 on1 tackle with big Eorl on his own 10 metre line that he missed. They also didn't leave Burns with a 1 on1 with Larne Patrick 10 yards out that he missed too. No that was us. if you can't get bodies into the tackle against an on rushing Crabtree that close to your line then you will concede.

The main decisions against us where given by the vr's if anything Thaler unfairly penalised hudds more last night barring a couple of forward passes.
4, roby got a tight call wrong, it happens get over it, I'm sick of listening to half wits in the east stand questioning every call, 90% are right just the fans either don't know the rules or don't care.
I'm not saying officiating isn't crap, it is, it's just not all the world is against us claptrap that is getting trotted out on here and in the stands.
As I've said before the vr system will kill the game if it carries on, but the way our fans are going they'll kill our club long before that. The days of the red army chants intimidating teams and the wall of noise has been replaced by the wall of excuse filled bile that will drive me and a lot like me away eventually.'"
3 of us we're actually saying how the Craven Park crowd has changed, when you 1st got into SL it was a scary place to come with a packed vociferous East Stand making so much noise - for the team and making it such an intimidating place to go, and it really was you couldn't hear yourself think in the past, compare that to now where its thousands of voices just constantly booing or screeching for a penalty, no ear splitting choruses of 'red red robin', no intimidating Hull Kr chants, just boos and wails, why did the crowd stop doing what made it a hell of a place to come to into what was almost an embarrassment at times this week ?
It's a shame really cos although it was intimidating it was also spine tingling at times and made supporters like us very envious of your lot !!

It changed during the last season of Morgan's reign.
Gone was the atmosphere fuelled by a decade in the lower leagues and entered the attitude that we should be in the top 4 all the time. Sections turned on Morgan and some of the players and its deteriorated since. Now a large section sound like a typical Hull crowd at any sporting event, moaning and turning on their own, demanding the coach be sacked after every defeat.
Yes the constant braying at officials is embarrassing but to cite that as the reason for the poor atmosphere is disingenuous.
There were fans thrown out after the game for trying to attack the officials near the tunnel Thursday. This may explain the chairman's statement after as it is out of hand now.
This doesn't change the fact that the Sharp gang aren't up to the job and are a spiteful petty incompetent lot made even more Crystal clear by the non sensical video ref decisions. Video refs should be done away with. Useless time wasting concept.
Blaming coaches for issues in the game is not going to address anything and naive. The officials can't keep up with the pace of changes in the game. But if there fundamentally incompetent it doesn't matter what you change.
Roby on Thursday tried to influence the game against Rovers every time he could. As he he did at Cas. Spiteful pathetic little turd who isn't fit to do his job.
