On the game,if the Cats try had been in real time and no video showing frame by frame,it would have stood with no arguments I.M.O.
Considering the conditions it was not a bad game to watch.

The injuries must be a concern,hope both players recover quickly.

Its nearly as annoying as having a try by a forward pass being allowed to stand.

We weren't robbed. I thought Silverwood had a very good game. Only one or two strange decisions in a game like that is a credit to him. Nearly all the video ref decisions were difficult ones. The pundits were split on most of them and they could have gone either way. Yes we had the posession to put them away but in them conditions I think being too critical is a bit unfair. We played with excellent energy, the boys were well up for it. I thought it was a very entertaining game. The sense of relief from FC fans is immense. That game must have been more draining for them than the players.
As sorry as I am for Welham and his bad injury I don't feel he'll be missed so much. Not had a good season. Rarely threatens unless on the end of a Dobbo pass/kick and shocking defense. With a full squad I wouldn't have even picked him. Lovegrove is a huge blow. Just an opinion and either way best wishes to both.

- Catalan first try, no way was a knock on. Hit his foot before it hit the floor. In fact, it hit the back oh his foot behind him. It was a very fortuitous try.
- Horne disallowed try was never a try. He didn't have the ball when he was over the line. He lost it, then Pryce got the ball, then he lost it. Two knock ons. One over the line. 20m restart.
- Didn't see the push as I'd nipped out.
- Catalan last try, he didn't lose the ball. It looks like there's a gap, but you can see his blurred fingers. The speed on the grounding has blurred out the smaller objects. Clear try on every other angle.

Rovers lost because they couldn't kill the game when they had every chance of doing it. When they got behind, it was like watching Leeds. They got niggly and petulant, resulting in penalty after penalty. You could tell Murrell was a product of the Rhinos!
You can't blame the ref for that one.

I must admit I thought the Cats were going to blow it with all the stupid knock ons.


Speaking for myself,I am more concerned about my own team to start worrying about what Rovers are up to.

But that's the thing, we played like it was a dry day, each to their own chief but I cannot see how you can think either side were any good. Any team from the old winter rugby era would have spanked either team last night.

If you win or lose I won't be sad enough to make a 'bang' thread or post on it tbh.

Regarding real time tries, most tries would be given like that, its only when you slow them down you may see otherwise. I'm not a fan of going to the vr to check things like drop outs and restarts tbh, the ref has to have something to do surely.

Considering that it was played in torential rain under lights the small numbers of dropped ball was remarkable (there were not many more than under normal conditions). As for the old winter season teams spanking todays side you are having a laugh, As a player of the old winter sides of the 1960's I can asure you that the fittness strength & stamina are light years ahead of the old semi pro players of yesterday's. I would suggest that todays National conferance sides like West Hull or Myton would beat our sides under todays rules( bring back scrums & 5 meter rule & old leather ball it might be different) Its only my opinion but considering the conditions we got a belter of a game, just the wrong result.

Regardless of the video ref decisions and Silverwood, we still had enough chances to put the game to bed.

Our defense was superb all night despite the conditions. Roll on next saturday and decent weather. I fancy our chances against anyone at the moment (apart from Wigan).

Unless my memory's tricking me I thought there was loads of dropped ball, Catalans knocked on in about four consecutive sets, I had a text from a friend that said there were so many knock ons and penalties it was like watching Onion!

My point about the old teams wasn't about strength and conditioning, obviously with not being full time and the advantages of sports science it isn't a fair comparison. My point was about nous. The old teams wouldn't have tried to play a game in torrential rain with the tactical style of being a game played in the middle of Summer, well apart from it being the middle of Summer!

It was a knockonathon.....

Fair pionts, I actualy enjoyed the game, tight to the end. It raises the question that I often pose to others what actualy do you want or expect from the game? those of us with more years on the clock than we would admit have seen the game evolve to somthing totaly diferent from what we watched or played in our youth. I miss the the lack of chances to compete for the ball during play (no ball striping striking at the play the ball ect) people who have never seen that wont be bothered as they know no diference. Limiting the number of tackles was done as the game was stagnating into a boring mess but it has made the game more structured with less opotunity for off the cuff play. Who know were it will go? I just think at times we expect to much from players playing in a very structured & controled game. I remember some awfull games in the 60's with over 40 scrums in a game from forced knock on's played on swamps of pitches, I am sure we would not want that any more.
