I think you're a bit off the mark here. Had Hudgell brought Sandercock in specifically to develop young wingers, he'd not have brought in David Hodgson. I know Uate is a comfortable and well-worn, arguably over-used, example of his prowess, but it's not the be all and end all. I'm simply presenting a few examples of players currently under Sandercock's tutelage who've not yet followed that trajectory, Latus, for example, if you want to use a winger. The question was raised by a moderator about whether Sandercock could do something with Lyne. Just looking at some recent and relevant examples. Crikey.

Nicklas is on dual registration at York to further his development. Briscoe is on dual registration at Featherstone to further his development. Burnett, I think, has been injured for most of the year. Ellis is being unceremoniously binned off to Cas, which I find disappointing as I thought he was a very good signing. Don't get why we're not retaining him, unless, of course, we have bigger fish to fry at half back.

I don't go and watch York or Featherstone, so can't really comment. I've already said how disappointed I am about Ellis and hope we've not missed a trick. Burnett I'm not sure about. I recognise that progression of players under Gentle and Hay is not perfect and neither have magical "Uate" powers. Sounds like a Vic Reeves catchphrase accompanied by a silly face.

Not really. Danny Nicklas debuted at SL level this year and has played 4 games, now gone to get increased game time at York. So not really sticking my neck out to say he's a better player now than last season.

I've always firmly believed he would be a massive positive for us, Rovers board took that much time making sure they got the correct man that I've always remained full of confidence. Tbf, CS's sticky start and general lack of bonhomie meant there was and to some extent remains a degree of ambivalence about him. Morgan was a tough act to follow. However, I'm delighted at his/our getting some good recent results because 1. Winning is nice and 2. It should guarantee him the breathing to have a proper crack at the job.
A couple of notes - Wheeldon, not the only member of Hull's Grand Final team that 'went south' and CS only had him for half a season 6 years laters. And Yeaman isn't in the current England squad, perhaps explaining our current lack of bleating on that score.
The Uate stuff may bore you, but as you say we all like to be optimistic about our coach and look for positives in their credentials. Much was made of Gentle having been the, as opposed to the more accurate if less impressive 'an', assistant coach of Australia. Moving up the organisation you lot had the whole infallibility of St. Adam thing, until failure-to-take-Hetherington-down-a-peg-or-two-gate, at least.
