| Not easy to judge this competition
I quite liked this one when i first started reading and singing it.
Quote To the tune of "My Old Man's A Dustman".

Let's be loud and make them proud to wear the National shirt,
And hopefully we'll spur them on to dig into the dirt.

There are no rucks there are no mauls, the scrums don't have a push,
And because it's played in Summertime, the surface is so lush,
You don't get pulled for feeding and the forwards don't get fatigue,
The game is much more faster, The game of Rugby League.
--MUSICAL INTERLUDE--
There are some boys down under, they think they are the best,
They whine and moan at referees and usually win the test,
But now the tide is turning, their squad is getting old,
Take for instance Darren Lockyear, his head is going Bald.
The English have been burdened, In charge is Stevie Mac,

His team selections' baffling, He picks anyone he can,
It doesn't matter if your Kiwi, You'll still be in his masterplan.

Then we have the All Blacks, who start off with a song,
Sang with gurning faces, their tongues are very long,
They wear all black and prance about, all big and proud and buff,
The Ockers have a hate for them, because they play too rough.
Wales are rarely favourites and the sheep are left behind,
They're pretty crap at tackling, and barely find the line,
But that don't stop them trying, they play until the end,
The RFL's tried everything but this one will not mend.

That's about all that we have, we'll see you in 2 years,

The first 3 verses are very good and it worked well with the tune.
This one also had a great first verse

But then both songs completely lost it with their negativity so have to be ruled out. This what happens from watching the dross served up in hull last season i suppose.
So the winner so far for me is Song 2 with the Bridge over troubled water tune.
Plus any song that makes me think of Kathryn " Lungs" Jenkins has to be a winner. |
