His shed was a heady smell of oil and hession. He had wall to wall jars of everything and his bench tops were covered in tools of all description.
When I asked him why he didnt tidy up and be organised he replied.

There's not many of those kind of old chaps left now. There used to be an old gentleman in my village whose name escapes me just now who had every sort of ball bearing, piece of equipment or whatever was required.
If my bike ever broke and we didn't have exactly the right bit, I'd go round and see him and he'd always have it, whilst also having a glass of pop and a biscuit that his wife would give us.
We'd watch a bit of the cowboy or war film that was on and then be off on our way, we'd have never given them any lip or allowed anyone else to. Lovely people.
