Two clubs that both have fourteen years of Super League behind them, with plenty of success along the way. Our first year had a threat of relegation, which wasn't the best time to be bring youngsters into the team. Last season saw Rovers finish 7th, well above some well established Super League sides, and this season has us in third position with ten games to go and the youngsters are starting to come through.

Not that dull, dull is the position Salford find themselves in at present, along with other clubs that are struggling to compete. It's a well known fact that Rovers sacrificed their youth policy, which was well respected for a lower league club a few years back, to assist them with their plan to get into Super League, which they managed to do as you well know.

Rovers have over the last couple of seasons have progressed in the top division, and at the same time we've progressed at youth levels also. Every club has it's own policy on it's youth development, Salford's is to bring in players at an early age as your stats suggest, but yet it's also encouraged by the state Salford find themselves in, with little money to spend on new players, Mcrae's own words, and a reliance on youth to help out.

Hull have a policy of telling the world they have a very good crop of youngsters coming through, yet constantly look to Australia and New Zealand to recruit players, what does this say to the young players looking to step up into the first team?

Now although some might argue that Rovers have the wrong kind of approach, I can only suggest the stats point to it working in our favour, the first team are going well in the Super League, the youth teams are improving.

What a ridiculous point. For starters we have quota spots free and only 4 overseas players to pick from, and of those we are selecting Maloney over Moa. Every year we bring through players into the first team. Houghton and Briscoe broke into the first team last year, Burnett this. I would suggest the message to our young players is that if they are included in the first team squad, they have a reasonable chance of actually playing a SL game.






Rovers do have the right approach as long as the RFL keep backtracking on overseas qualification rules. Still disappointing that, going into your 4th SL season you've only got 1 player brought through the ranks in that time to show for it.

All of the above, although you do know the average age of FC's squad is lower than Rovers, don't you?

Moa? Is he still in the country? Maloney, according to some on Hull Fc's forum, may find himself released at the end of the season, Briscoe, I think is a decent player and Houghton also.

Again though, Hull have plenty of Super League years and the benefits that come with that behind them. I was talking to the father of one of Rovers youth players a week ago, we had a similar conversation about how Rovers have improved in youth development, his answer was it's down to finance, more money, more time, more players and more coming through the ranks. Players coming through might not be as quick as Mrs Barista would like it to be at Craven Park, but I don't think anyone at Rovers will lose any sleep over that matter.

As for the RFL's policy on overseas players, Rovers don't make the rules, just use them to their advantage.

Vey good player is Scott, and from what i have been told has a very good attitude.

Has a great chance to make it in SL if he carries on his progress. Might get a couple of games next year.

I have said it a few times, but will say it again it shows that there is enough talent in Hull for both teams.

First time I've been on this board for a few days and I knew that your childish ramblings would be on this particular thread, about this particular player - you really need to grow up.



Anyway, Scott Taylor, impressed me so far in the reserve games I've seen this season and can only progress under the best second-row pairing in Super League.

There's a good chance that our second-rowers will be rotated in the coming seasons so no doubt Scott will get his chance to impress.
