We will need to win 4 or 5 games from the last 9 to make the 8. So, 1 or possibly 2 away wins are a must.'"
rugby fans in Hull seem to be the most fickle in the game. Coaches, players and full teams can go from completely useless to potential grand finalists on the back of a ropey win here or there. Too few people really understand what's actually going on.
As for sandy, seems any new investment into the club will be less than hudge and crossland have been putting in so what choice did the club really have?

You've made one heck of a statement there! Are you sure about this?
As far as I am aware Rovers Board have secured additional sponsorship NOT new investment.
By inference, taken from NHs interview with the HDM, Rovers will be operating on similar lines in 2014 as 2013, so how on earth you concocted your statement is beyond me!

You seem to have a problem distinguishing between improved sponsorship and new investment - it is the former that is bolstering the finances for 2014 NOT the latter.
If/When new investors come on board, then and only then can we attempt to debate your concocted statement.

I don't have a problem with anything. hudge has already indicated that there will be a new make up of your board and possibly club ownership next year. Whether any money comes into the club as a loan or sponsorship is irrelevant to the point that sandy will likely have less cash to play with next year on the salary cap. Try and spin it how you like but that is what your club owner has said

| Certainly seems like C.S has shown that we all as fans can be guilty of showing short-termism. The team deserves a good showing from supporters on Sunday. Hopefully fans will turn up and cheer on the lads and show our gratitude and cheer on the boys to make it five on the bounce.

| I'll have a slice of that.
I'd patiently supported him and then that ran out after the Wigan debacle.
He's got it back on track and we're seeing some of the fruits of what I assume to be his one on one sessions with the likes of Eden, Walker and Cox.
Talking of Eden, I owe a similar post on his thread.

I don't think anyone on this side has made outlandish claims of being a top 4 club despite all evidence to the contrary

Well done Stan.
If you give an opinion you always run the risk of events proving you wrong but opinions are what a fans forum is all about.
Rovers now have more league points than in the whole of last season with 7 games still remaining so it's reasonable to say progress has been made.
The last 3 games have been massive, if we'd lost those we'd be stuck on 16 points and struggling to match last season's modest effort. Last season we played really well in the Catalans & Saints away games but lost both narrowly. Margins are pretty fine.
Dobson will be a huge loss but the form of Burns certainly softens the blow. He's creating as much or more than Dobson at the moment and Greg Eden has been nothing short of sensational. We'll still have the basis of a good team and Sandercock makes good signings there are sure to be some quality additions.
Hopefully everyone can get behind the coach now. We have a good chance of making the play offs and who knows maybe we can have a say in how the season unfolds.

| Some times, as KR fans we need to take a step back and see what we have acheived in the past few seasons, promotion and cosolodation in a leauge where the margins between success and medioctity are very small.
We can all look back to the halcyon days of the 80`s but they have gone and we deal with what we have now.
I remember the first seaons back in SL, the spirit and attitude in the East Stand was if we win fantastic, if we compete and compete and loose still good. After that period as a whole we expected to win and voiced our disapproval of players, coaching etc etc, forgetting how far we have come.
Look at our team , competing with the best, playing attractive physical rugby, look at the new stand, look at the average age of the KR team, I beleive we are improving week on week.
As a KR fan I am excited by the future, because only a short time ago we did not have a plan or any future.I beleive CS is an out standing one on one coach who will and does improve players skill base and attitude.as we are aware he is operating under very difficult conditions and is at the moment producing results.
How often do you hear Phil Clarke say that dennis Betts has the hardest job in SL? Aside from the normal Wigan/Widnes bias on Sky, with big money available, and the resources that he has access to? etc etc. how can that be possibly said?
Agar last year did exeptionally well at Wakefeild and was in my opinion the high acheiver in SL working with what he had available, this year on the results so far, with the exeption of the Wigan result,CS must be a contender for some sort of recognition.

You're operating at near full salary cap and, whilst you may not have the staff and infrastructure of the top teams, I doubt they are any worse than any of the clubs currently outside the top 8

| True, as I said I am excited to be where we are and what we have acheived.I am in no doubt that the majority of SL teams are on the whole operating on the same sort of budgets.
I do wonder how thougth, some teams do manage to carry on, the overheads and day to day running of a club far exceeds their income. The only explanation can be that they have chairmen/boards with deep pockects to keep them in existence.the sky money, attendance revenue , and some sponsorship is the only visble income.
By the way we are not outside the top eight.

| I think he was indicating that we haven't had full value from the spend due to injuries, and so were effectively well under the cap. Obviously everybody has injuries, but he was indicating we need to make more of an effort to make sure future signings are durable. Easier said, like - IMO, a fair chunk of it is just luck, but I guess we'll be wary of older player, especially if their recent track record isn't good.

| Anderson inhewrited a team which had perfromed well in the previosu season and was relatively stable.Huddersfield have a big money backer who is not afraid to spend his money. In the early days of SL Huddersfeild were for some reason protected and kept in, when in reality their fan base and performances should have meant relegation and the promotion of Leigh. Now there is a story..

No not effectively under the cap but actually under the cap.
Some teams with long term injuries bring in replacements look at Hull last season they had loads of injuries but brought in several replacements like Watts, McGoldrick, Foster etc. The injured drop out of the equation the replacements take their place. The actual full year wage bill becomes far higher than the salary cap but at any given time only 25 players can be selected but the '25' are a shifting sand.
Less wealthy clubs like Rovers tend to cover injury crisis by utilising the £50k available to pay everyone outside the 25 registered players.
Rovers this year despite a crippling injury list have more or less made do apart from brief loan signings resulting in being a long way short of the cap. We did this because we couldn't afford not to.

I'm pretty sure that any players contracted for the season have their wages counted on the cap even if they don't play due to injuries. hudge has already said you're spending within 70k of the cap so either he was lying then or is now
