Read an article today in the country supplement of the Sunday Herald (sydney paper) - not online - that Newcastle will have to pay a top up to Cory Paterson next season to make his payment up to what his Newcastle contract would have been. The article said Newcastle was paying 300k $aus to four players released early - Cory, Issac De gois, Wes Naiquama and Junior Sau.
I expect Penrith will have to top up Travis Burns as well, since he is being released a year early.
