How many ball playing options did we have in the forwards this year?
A few years back when Briscoe was FB we needed another ball handler and we had that in Galea, now we have Eden who can become the extra man so we don't really need an old fashioned LF.

| I think Costigan is a better ball handler than people think. And JH will play a bit at 13 so we have no worries on that front and defensively we look a lot more sound.

| I agree with the points raised about this years pack, but the idea is to improve. Paea is also a lot more explosive that Weyman will be.
The comedian kidnapper raises a good point in Eden providing options as the extra pivot, but I think I'd like to see someone who's got a lot of line breaks in them, can hit the line hard and slip the pass to the centre. Lovegrove did it very well to Hall a couple of weeks ago (against Huddersfield was it?) but it's not an integral part of his game.
I don't think we necessarily need an ball playing loose forward, I just think we need a bit more penetration.
Quote ="Mild Rover"KK as a hooker-half (like Wire have used M. Monaghan and Wigan used Tommy Leuleuai (sp?)), with Hall playing more often at 6, alongside Burns at 7. Also freeing up J. Hodgson to play more as a ball-playing 13, with Lovegrove offering impact from the bench???? That's cack as well as complicated, isn't it?'"
That's the sort of ridiculously over complicated game plan I would come up with, unfortunately you forgot to factor in the average RL players intelligence.

Yeah - to lose, Paea, Paterson and, to an extent Mika, does shift us the other way. I guess recruitment has been going on for a while though, and it isn't so long ago that 'we' were complaining about our porous defence and lack of consistency. I said we had too many talented but flakey players, more than once, when we were struggling. A few more solid citizens is a good thing, but as always it is a balance.

| Think Mika has had his chance now. He's been better this season but we need a 13 who can do 65-80 mins and he struggles to get a good 40-50

| I think until Sunday, Mika has been much improved this season. Whether or not he has improved enough to warrant another deal however, probably not.

| Briers to KR all over the place at the moment, rumours on here, other RL forums, facebook and twitter, as a Player/Assistant Coach.
Hope not, he's said he's hanging his boots up after 2015 season, i'm just hoping he stays with us for those two years, with Dobson going though it sounds more credible than it's ever been.
Suppose with the family link, it's an easy move to make away from the field.

Issue is, as noted, Mike Smith is negotiating with 4 NRL players for the no.7 jersey, and Briers is a 6 not 7. So it would mean him moving Travis to say 13? Then Briers at 6 with the new NRL guy? Would give us that ball playing loose man we always need. Plus added steel in the middle of the park. Be nice to see.
Also be great to think Briers could be coaching our players and kids, with Stan also.

Is Smith negotiating for a 7? By the sounds of it if it is Keating then he sounds more of a 9?
Briers worries me that he could end up like a Shaun Long type signing, one club legend who fails to adapt at a new club.

Pleased about that, good for both Lee and Warrington. I think he has another good year in him at the club he obviously wants to be at. 2 years with us would have been very risky for all involved.

| Peter Wallace & Scott Prince could be on the market, Broncos not having a happy time. Wallace is a very similar player to Dobbo imo. Wonder what sort of deal Parramatta would cut to get shot of Chris Sandow?

| Sandows reportedly on $550k (around £330k) but Parramatta want rid. If they pay 40% of his deal that puts him near the £200k mark, what are we paying Dobbo?

Trouble with deals like that is they're ok for the first year or so then you're forced to get rid once the full wage falls on you

Allegedly 170k. Nothing concrete though.
