| Mike Smith was a guest of GS sports management over the weekend.
Looking at their portfolio , Brett Finch would seem most likely.
Unless its a real rabbit out of the hat , in which case Daniel Mortimer ?.

| Daniel Mortimer is from Sydney Roosters was at Parrammatta sbefore, not really big enough noit a bad player but lacks size IMO he is son of Peter who played for us in the eighties
Finchie too old having said that he did a good job at Wigan but another year on, hope we can do better

In saying that he won't leave Melbourne and Mortimer won't leave Sydney.

I and probably the rest of the world of rugby league would be astonished if we "do better" than a current starting half back at one of the top 4/5 club sides in the world which is exactly what both these kids are....
But as Sheldon rightly points out the idea is moot.., not a chance of either....

| Mortimer isn't a starting half back. He's been playing hooker from the bench.

The word current is pretty definitive in its meaning, and unless i am in a parallel universe, the Roosters game i watched Saturday morning , their latest game , when they defeated Cronulla 40-0 had Mr Mortimer as the start number 6, as he had done against Canterbury the other week . You are very correct in that he has been used off the bench rest of the season as the normal Roosters half backs just happen to be the NSW 6 and 7...Mr Finch has only got into the Storm due to the injury to Widdop yet he is still the current half-back...not sure of your angle..
But again i would say its a moot point...

He was indeed, finished the game playing 5/8th when Maloney went off with 10 to go.
Finch went to Melbourne as cover but will probably finish this season and start the next as their first choice 6, as Widdops signed for St George.

| Kris Keatings a strange type of player. Not your typical half back, not an organiser, but has good support and is great in open/broken play with a realitivly good kicking game. I've always thought he was better suited to hooker.
Can't get a look in at Bulldogs atm due to Hodkinson and Reynolds form.

| Keatings would be a fantastic signing imo. Along with Langley then we wouldn't be far off regarding major signings. Maybe a winger and a bit more depth in the front row. When we played Bulls at Craven Park Langley was there stand out forward always putting our forwards on the back foot and as many have said he's sound defensively.

| Langley is a potential banana skin. He's older than I thought at twenty nine and will be thirty by the start of next season.
The fact that Bradford haven't offered him a new deal would mean I would want him to undergo a very thorough medical before any sort of deal was offered.
Although it would have plenty of grunt, I don't think a pack of Weyman, Hodgson, Walker, Lovegrove, Costigan and Langley gives us enough ball playing options.

| In fairness it's not much worse on a ball playing front than this year. Other than Paterson who hasn't played enough to make a difference, and Mika who I think we can collectively agree is not as good a ball player he thinks he is, that pack wouldn't contribute particularly more or less to an expansive style.

Add in solid but unspectacular senior pros like ET and Horne and it looks, strong, workmanlike, but lacking a little in strike power.
KK as a hooker-half (like Wire have used M. Monaghan and Wigan used Tommy Leuleuai (sp?)), with Hall playing more often at 6, alongside Burns at 7. Also freeing up J. Hodgson to play more as a ball-playing 13, with Lovegrove offering impact from the bench???? That's cack as well as complicated, isn't it?
