Due to cosmic law anything you are looking at is actually back in time.
As an example if you look at another person one foot away that person is actually one billionth of a second behind you due to the time it has taken their light to reach you.
It may not seem a lot but the light from the sun is actually 8 mins old when it reaches us.

Did you watch wonders of the universe with Prof. Brian Cox? Good was that. Especially the order of time episode.

If your into that sort of physics stuff; there was a very good programme on around the same time on BBC2. Can't remember the professor (he reminded me of Omid Djalili) but it was a 2 part series basically trying to explain how Dirac's equation implied the existence of anti-matter.

Neither of my staments are contradictory.
Linear time/light is the well documented realisation that things come before/after.
Relativity is the fact that time/light is only relative to the position it is in at any moment in time in all 3 dimensions.
I see that time/light 1 billionth of a second later because my relative position is far enough away for that to be the case, In otherwords I am looking into the past, What I am not is in that past as my timeline is relative to MY position not theirs.


Oh and if i'm being picky light speed is a constant '[ic[/i' (The speed of light in a vaccum) is a fundamental rule of physics, Just because it is slowed down by the density of a medium doesn't change the value of [ic[/i.
