For fear of getting repetative it's best you read RoversTrace's post. Any of them will do and sum up why fans are travelling to support Charlie.
If he'd gone to Leeds or Wakey, that's fine we could have just chanted his name next time we played them and shown our appreciation and support, however he went to Fev so that wasn't a possibility.

Exactly! People wanted to just say a thank you that they never got the chance to say as he left Rovers so quickly. Whoever he plays for next season is irrelevant, although I do hope he goes on to have further success and prove himself wherever that may be. In the meantime, those who are going are enjoying watching not only Charlie, but some pretty decent national league rugby, which can't be a bad thing.

| 100% in support of Ben and cant beleive the usual suspects who "bitchfeast"it every time.
Makes me cringe at some of the so called fans of hkr who prefer players that dont show as much passion and commitment on the field as Ben did.

| If all this is purely to "Support Ben" why is it necessary to wear full Rovers gear and take flags etc? It drags the rest of us into it by proxy, something which I'd sooner do without.

well, seeing as MY Rovers shirt has had Cockayne on for the last four years I feel that would be the best thing for ME to wear. Many people decided to have Mason on their shirts before he'd even touched a ball for Rovers ...

Loz left us a couple of years back, last I heard he was in CC1 playing for South Wales Scorpions (Crusaders 'feeder' club)
The Chris Moyles thing was a publicity gimmick and lets face it, it worked
This season its called the Bigfellas stadium after the nightclub in Pontefract after the owner stumped up a wedge

I would agree with what Di says, though not sure why we have to give a definite yes or no, and why it concerns so many other people.
If he were playing for Leeds or Wakey I would definitely love to watch him play at some point, but I'd do that at least twice in the season anyway As I said before I have followed the careers of many of our ex-players, hoping to catch up with Iain Morrison on Friday night too.

What happened to Andreas Bauer and Damien Coutourier? (sp?) I liked Coutourier a lot, thought he was just starting to kick on when he got injured, struggled after that and then didn't get another contract.

I don't know why either Trace, or why it bothers anyone what we wear to said games.
I see plenty of people in Rovers shirts in Asda but it doesn't lead me to believe that all Rovers fans shop there!!

It might have something to do with the way Charlie put the club in the news for the wrong reasons - and you going to watch him as HKR fans (aka in colours) some people may think you show our club in a bad light for supporting him?
Im wildly guessing here because im not one of them and dont have a problem with it at all - and id go to watch him because i like going to the NL grounds aswell. But i wouldnt dream of going if he was at another SL club. (Id see him twice and afew times on SKY, that would be enough because i would cheer on another SL team)

I once saw a CCTV image of a crime scene in the paper and the guy in it was wearing a Rovers shirt, does that mean we're all criminals (Hull fans, that is a rhetorical question )
When you watch SL on the telly, do you not favour one or the other teams? It's usually the Yorkshire team in our house, or anyone playing Wigan! Do you never go as a neutral to Wembley or the Grand Final, wearing your Rovers shirt? You wearing a Rovers shirt and supporting Leeds for example would suggest that all Rovers fans want Leeds to win, according to your way of thinking. It doesn't mean you are pledging an allegiance to that team, Rovers will always be your team.
I will admit that when Gareth Morton went to Oldham along with Byron Ford and later Matty Brookes, I went to watch him play many games that season and was made incredibly welcome by their fans (some of whom I am still in touch with), so much so that I became an honourary Oldham fan, and since them I have always had a soft spot for them, and guess what, I wore my Rovers shirt to their games too.
PS if you don't have a problem with it all, why did you raise the matter?

Very possibly, but the link the OP posted, and your comment stating that you don't have a problem with it, suggests that not all see it this way. It was a good night on Thursday, it actually made a refreshing change to attend a game as semi- neutral and we couldn't have been made more welcome.

Simply put; NO. Not unless they have a factor that benifits HKR in the process... Or if they are playing FC

Like i said i totally agree and im all for it unless its another SL club, as i only want whats best for HKR. (as do most of us)
But the fact is that not all agree because of how he has made our club look.
Trace its not about how we see it in the paper - if you were from Bristol (just a random place) and saw that scene you mentioned in the paper; it would make you think twice about how nice and lovely most HKR fans are. No matter what we think; if the club is put in a bad light by anyone at all it makes the WHOLE CLUB look bad. We may not agree with this but thats the bigger picture.

| I would very much doubt anyone from Bristol would've recognised a HKR shirt, especially as it was the orange and grey one lol
