Good move by Wakefield they get to see how he goes before they sign him, and Rovers payign some of his wages.

I also think it is a good move by Rovers, look a better side without him (for whatever reasons). Get a big chunck of the salary cap off their big also, see how I'Anson goes, and maybe look for a replacement (Brough would be the wrong option IMO, Rachford or simalar would be right type of player wo play with Dobson).

If he had a brain he could have been reveered for years to come by both sets of fans but as it's turned out he'll be forgotten by everyone in 10 years or so

I dont think so, it's a shame because he is very good player, but will be remembered (certainly by Hull fans) for the bad things rather than the good things he did at Hull.

Undoubtedly. He never wanted to leave. His dad leaked the story to put pressure on Hull to advance his testimonial in front of kingy's. That was the only issue at the time

I've seen Hull fans say Rovers should have reported the approach and I suspect that they did in one sense. When Cooke approached them, Rovers will surely have contacted the RFL for clarification of his position. When it became clear that the position was unclear, Rovers would have asked if they could proceed with signing him. I suspect the RFL's response was along the lines of 'dunno, maybe, suppose so', in which case, in the absence of clear rules for dealing with this eventuality, it is hard to see what more Rovers could have done. Rejecting the approach simply to save Hull's blushes or feelings and saying 'if our future lies in the National Leagues, what the hell.' would have been a neglect of duty.
But that was 2007 and we can maybe start to put it behind us now...

Exactly . He was badly advised. He would have had a testimonial and probably stayed at Hull FC until they no longer wanted him.
Rovers rightly signed him as in 2007 he was at his peak after our 2006 GF season. He has cost both Clubs.

Not sure if there's any truth in it but i'd been told that Cooke was given a dressing down from Morgan for taking the lead over Dobson in one of the earlier games in the season when Cooke got MOM. Cant remember who you played but i know Cooke got huge praise on here for his performance.
