Garry Prohm was an excellent centre, probably the best I've seen at the club in over 40 years of watching Rovers, strong fast and fearless, great guy off the pitch also.
Although he also played on wing once or twice when he first arrived, he was predominately a left centre for the club, scoring a record 40+ tries in one particular season, doubt we will see that achieved again.
He was also the main reason for David Laws becoming the free scoring winger he was at the time.

The 83/84 team was better than the 79/80 team. Personally I think that the 84/85 team was better than the pair of them. Yorkshire cup runners up, John player winners, League winners, Premiership runners up. Challenge cup semi finalists. Not a bad year!
Mind you, the 83/84 team always has the victory over the all-conquering Queensland team to fall back on, as well as the league/premiership double!

I dont mind mentioning the 1980 cup final i cryed rivers after the game i was 15 but somone had to win and somone had to lose simple my only regret from those fantastic days is we did not go back there and redeam ourselfs boths clubs should have won there at least a couple of more times in the 80s i think a golden era went bye without both teams really fulfilling their potential at wembley, but i guess the whole leauge was closer then even division 2 was very good and would turn over top flight teams on a regular basis so our collective achievments can not be underestimated they where great days for our teams
