With regards to the fine for the late filing of accounts, apparently the reason behind the delay is due to waiting on HMRC to confirm tax position on investments by individuals and various image rights, without this information the club are unable to file the accounts.

It's far more likely that someone within HKR would tell someone a reason like this rather than a reason which would make Rovers look bad.

If that's correct, why haven't they looked for tax advice elsewhere?

This isn't the first time the late filing of accounts has been brought up, so why not come out and state that as the reason?

I understand at least four or five other SL clubs have yet to file accounts....

It's entirely possible that other SL clubs are late and it just hasn't hit the headlines.

It's also likely that the amount of delay involved will depend on the complexity of the situation and this will vary from club to club.

We did. And got fined. More than once IIRC.

Plenty of trolling from Rovers fans at the time as well.

Payback's a bitch. As we've been discovering for the last two seasons.

You can understand all you like but Rovers are now having to pay a fine that they can barely afford.

These opportunities havn't come about as frequently as we would like over the last 2 years.

I wonder how rare late submissions are withing companies in general, I doubt its limited to two RL clubs sharing the same city.

Also says the penalty is doubled if this is the second consecutive year the accounts were filed late.

Rovers were late last year too, IIRC.

I make that a maximum fine of £15000. Ouch. That's a quarter of the Club Rovers money. Can't imagine Rovers tolerating that if it could be avoided - whatever can it be that's holding them up?

It would be (and has been) the same if the boot was on the other foot so don't be getting all precious.

The higher amount is for listed companies, but you are right about the amount doubling for a second consecutive late filing.
