Yeah it was limited edition in the sense that it marked the 25th anniversary of the Challenge Cup win, but again, it's not actually a limited edition shirt itself - there will have been at least 1000 made (we averaged about 2500 in the 2005 season, so I'd guess 1000 of those bought the home shirt). More units of this shirt will have been made than shirts in the ten years prior to that because we opened the Holderness Road store opp East Park in time for the 2005 season, so like I said it is just my opinion that it is not a particular rare shirt (certainly compared to others). I hope I'm wrong for ya, but I suspect that the current 99p bid on eBay will not rise to the £40 that you have been offered, so therefore the £40 offer is a good one.
Please don't think I'm being funny mate, I'm just being honest and open with ya (as someone who loves collecting shirts).

Part of the reason why I don't think it's worth a lot is it is only 7 years old. If it was an 80's original Rovers shirt (for example), it'd probably be worth plenty. It certainly looks in good condition and in years to come it'll probably rise in value, but at the moment I doubt it'll go for anything silly on eBay.

| Just noticed the amendment to your listing saying only 200 were made. Again this is incorrect - the NRC Final shirt of the same year was only produced in 200 or 300, but for the shirt in question you are talking at least 500-1000 made I'd say.

No worries. Again it's a very nice shirt, and if it hadn't already been bid on I would have perhaps advised her to maybe hold on to it for a few years. It was pretty well made, and on the pitch signalled the start of the rebuilding of the club, so holds good memories for Rovers fans in some ways.
Absolutely, should be a cracker.

Hmm, not sure I'd agree with 'Horrible' mate, eg it was better than last season's sache effort surely?!
Yeah I've kinda took a back seat on here the last 6-12 months. Still love it though, better than hullkrfans (with all its cliches and politics) any day.
Wish I'd said hi to ya at headingley last year in the rain mate when saw 'GOOSE POWER' a few steps in front of me but had a bad feeling at the time I'd upset / peed you off over something on here so thought better not.

You did right Roofs, Sandra holds a grudge like no other. He would have given you a karate chop to the neck & a swift front kick in the groin, you'd have stood no chance. The times I've seen him at the KC with Mrs B In a headlock, it's frightening.
No, if you see the Goose & you've pee'd him off, stay clear.

I liked that kit.
It was miles better than the 2010 one, certainly (IMO).

| Yeah I guess it was okay after the initial shock!
Hey so what happened with the shirt rowdellhead? I noticed it ended without anyone matching the 99p starting bid, did she remove the auction and take the £40 offer?
The ones I mentioned in a previous post that I thought were cool from 1990 (the cotton Riding Bitter ones), there's actually one on there ending today at nearly £40. Looks very smart but not bidding personally, have bought a few old ones over the last 2 or 3 years and there's only so many chances to wear them eh (as smart as it is).

| Was going to say i see alot of that shirt worn so must be plenty about and as roofs has said not really limited edition.
Ive also seen plenty of the GF one you mentioned roofs but i cant find many of the one which had the northern rail cup winners tag stitched above the badge.

| Weren't the Cup final ones actually wrongly embroidered with 'National Rail Cup' around the badge?
Can't be bothered to get mine out and make sure but I could've sworn it didn't say Northern Rail Cup.

God yeah that was an embarrassing blunder by either the club and / or Carlotti eh. Though IIRC they did have '2005 Northern Rail Cup Winners' on the ones released after the final.
The 1990 Riding Bitter away shirt (white with blue band) that someone was selling on eBay went for approx £50.

| Yeah, to be fair, I don't like any of them, the only one I've ever liked was my nineteen eighty six Challenge Cup Final shirt, and even that wasn't perfect, I wanted number thirteen, for my all time favourite Rovers player but they'd run out, so I had to get a seven for my second favourite player of the time.
Club shop's always been a bit rubbish.
You fixed up with work chief?

| I don't like any of the old shirts.
To contradict that statement, I like the replicas of old ones that people buy and use it to back up their claims that they have been supporting Rovers since the 1980's and have always stood in that same place. I started going in 1994 and one thing I know for sure is that the people who line the front two rows didn't stand there in '94. They're also claiming that in 30 years, their shirt they bought still fits them 32 years on. Amazing. Easty is one of them.

Ah right, fair dues mate. There aren't many Rovers shirts I can think of that I've disliked, the ones I have have all been recent:
- 2009 home and away
- 2010 home and away
- 2011 home
Apart from that I've liked the rest really during my 18 years as a fan, even the often-slated Matchwinner 'diamond' ones. And I must be the only person in the city who likes the following one:
Yeah I agree about the shop, I've said it before but for some reason I found the one opposite East Park better than the current one even though this one is twice as big. Better customer service back then for a start.
Yeah am doing okay for work thanks mate, work across three different council teams, so combined I get full-time hours in every week.

While I wasnt keen on the 09 away shirt personally, in defence of it it was clearly a massive, massive seller for the club, to the point where I would guess that it may still be our greatest ever selling away shirt, so they clearly struck gold with the 'unusual' colour combo and design.
Thinking back to our Avec days, one shirt they did which was a brilliant idea in theory but didn't really work in practice was the 2000 home shirt (100% cotton, plain white with red band). This looked great as a traditional Rovers shirt, but in practice I think people had problems with them fading quickly (I didn't buy it, but remember the big 'ROVERS' red lettering on the back seemed to fade quickly on other peoples.
A cotton old-style shirt is still something I think the club should do (Hull do it from time-to-time to a seemingly positive reception and sales) but as its a good idea I'm sure they won't do it.

I've got that cotton shirt.
It went yellow and was like wearing a sponge when it rained.
The badge on it was different to any other shirt as well, just an outline rather than a solid red badge.
