When Transformers was out origionally I was about 10.
Starwars 'A New Hope' was released in 1977 I was born in 1975 so I also grew up with that.
I haven't been to a convention in my life.
I can like something and remember details without dressing up like a loon or letting it take over my life.

It's fine, go to a convention if you want. As you know I have a weakness for crime novels, I considered going to the Theakestone's crime writing festival a couple of years ago because David Simon was going to be there, I didn't go but only because it clashed with something else.

You should go RW. Don't let them loons put you off. I bet everyone blends in after a while.

I never really got into the original Transformers. I started watching Beast Wars with my son and became a major fan - we still have the entire series stashed away on VHS somewhere. Some great humour in those scripts and some surprisingly adult storylines.

I was 15 when Star Wars came out and remain a right SW geek. Hate the newer trilogy, mind - except for the lightsaber battles. Must have seen the original films a hundred times.

I've also never been to a convention but have some mates who used to go in their youth - they used to dress up and everything. Never appealed to me.



Nowadays I'm into Anime, as is my daughter. Trouble is there's none on UK TV any more so it gets a tad expensive if you want to get the shows/films on DVD or download.
