How would you raise revenue? Or would you cut costs?
(Use a hypothetical club, rather than Rovers, for the sake of argument, so you don't feel obliged to run it into the ground)

Your the one having a kiddy hissy fit to the question sunshine.
You wont be paying the £60 so i fail to see why you feel the need to comment so much on it.

As far as I've read it, the only people being cynical over the Club Rovers thing are a) People who can't afford it and b) Hull FC fans. These people aren't thinking about the club and it's future, just their own financial situation (which is understandable at the minute). This season will be the most successful season we've seen for over a decade so of course season pass prices are going up, as will demand for season passes! At least the club have made a price freeze available as part of the whole Club Rovers thing.'"

no one is been forced to buy one and if people don’t want to that’s there up to them.
my guess is that by next season pass holders will have risen by about 500 and about 4000 of them will be membership card holders.
At the end of the day £60 equals about 2 pints less a week not that much to ask.

So I'm being cynical now because I can't afford it?
Having done the calculations we will actually be financially better off buying our passes at the increased price than paying the frozen price plus the membership.

TBH I'm not sure how to raise revenue all I know in the last year the the fans have had hospitality meals icreased by around £20 and now the passes have increased by £40+
I understand its difficult financial times for the club but dont forget you've had reoord pass sales and a a record sponsorship deal in the last 6 months aswell.

In 2010 only, I think you'd be very slightly better off without membership. Beyond that membership works out much better - assuming the renewal fee really is nominal. Above £10 I'd regard it as a renewal fee rather than a nominal renewal fee.

Assuming you got a pass again in 2011 and that without membership it was at least £221/£260 (east/west), you'll be better off with membership. You won't be paying £60 every year for membership.
If anybody hasn't looked at the pdf brochure (not assuming any of the above haven't or trying to be condescending), I would before deciding whether or not it is for you.

Fair post. Remember also that we only have a C license - the stadium, the youth structure, etc all need investment. If we want to spend up to or close to the cap, while building infrastructure (and very possibly servicing debts incurred getting to and staying in SL), I can see why more money is needed. The only mystery to me is why they have slashed the cost of my virtual season pass, rather than just giving me a discount on it for becoming a member.

Believe me mild rover I have spent an incredible amount of time reading and re-reading that pdf. I know you think I am moaning but I would love to be a part of this scheme and help the club, but no matter how many times I read it and work it out, I can see no benefit for my family at this moment in time.

I do not think you are moaning and I understand why you are disappointed.
Don't know if this applies to you, but anybody who has been a pass holder for, say, 5 years (back when Rovers were still struggling and numbers buying a pass were much smaller), should, IMO, get a big discount on membership. Perhaps the RSG could suggest that to the club?

Like I said I'm not against the scheme and I fully understand why the club are launching it, if I weren't I wouldn't have already registered my kids. My problem is that I won't have the money for mine and my husband's passes before the end of Sept, so can't see any benefit at all of being a member. I'll be buying the kids passes and hopefully we'll be able to afford our before the end of the year, but at least there won't be any further price hikes then.

I didnt add that of course i will be getting a pass 2011/2012 and so on...
so would that then make it worth while? as i also dont see anyone getting a north stand ticket for the derby game unless they are in this membership...

So, prices for 2010 are essentially the same as an undiscounted 2009 pass?

No, if those figures are correct, he doesn't. The discounted tickets now require membership, rather than early renewal - that is the difference.

On discounted tickets, yes. On undiscounted tickets, which I believe was the point being raised, prices are unchanged.
That undiscounted tickets are expensive and that getting a discounted ticket this year requires the payment of a £60 membership fee is undeniable. This does though render one of my earlier concerns - that the £260 season ticket had been newly created to give a false impression of the size of the membership discount - invalid.

Perhaps we are. You could ask on the VT, if you are curious.
It is about value and the quality of the product as well though and there have been many more complaints in that regard on certain other boards I could mention.

The point being you have to pay £60 to get a "discounted ticket". In fact I would say Rovers no longer have a "discounted ticket" as the only way to get a "discount" is to pay the extra money up front. In fact as I read it, it will now actually cost more to buy a season pass then it did before the membership scheme was brought in. Even without the "discount"?
The cheapest seating season pass was £210. In order to get a season pass for £210 next season you have to spend £60 otherwise its £260. Have I got that right?
