Thoughts on Rovers in 2013, please.

Anyway, all I want out of Rovers next season, is a team that is not only competative, but one that can actually close out games!

The rest will take care of itself.

Once we know the make-up of the 2013 squad ie the Scott Taylor question, who is being retained, are their any other signings in the pipeline, perhaps we can play this game (not that I am any good at predictions lol).

Would the new rules not force NH's hand over Taylor?

The crowd potentially booing him from May could distrupt your season.

On the squad front I'd have thought a winger would be priority.

Have i missed something here? granted I missed a couple of games in July due to my daughter been in hospital but I don't ever recall the fans booing Scott Taylor. Shannon McDonnell on the other hand, I do remember the booing.

Wouldn't be surprised to see Sherriff and Hall play there.

Cant see us signing another out and out winger on top of the Caro signing. Hodgson, Caro, Hall, Latus and possibly Salter give us plenty of options there.

Taylor wont be booed. He will have signed a new deal or be long gone by next May. I wouldnt be surprised to see a bidding war between Wigan, Leeds and Wire begin shortly..

Much as I'd regret Taylor's departure, he'd just be a pro player who wants to move on - not worthy of booing.
But then if booing is a concern - you're free to announce things earlier, not obliged to. At most we (the club) can say we've offered a contract or withdrawn an offer.
How many significant figures have been involved at both clubs? Joe Oliver played for and coached us, Colin Hutton was a player with you, Arthur Bunting a player and coach with us, Johnny Whiteley coached us, Clive Sullivan and so on and so on. Not putting Taylor in that exalted company at this early stage of his career, but it's hardly an uncrossable divide.
There'd maybe be the odd numbskull, I guess, but mostly we'd just start to look beyond him to the future. Hope he stays, mind.
There are no paralells with the Cooke drama, either in principle or situational. Things have moved on.

Caro announced?

I'll second that. Not seen many U20's games he's played that doesn't contain howlers from him.

Im struggling to remember any howlers from him on sunday when he played against the best side in the country...

I do remember a superb ball that put Dave Hodgson over in the corner though.

It will only turn into a bidding war if Scott Taylor is willing to join the bidding team in the first place and I think wigan is a non starter

So you think Taylor would turn his nose up at any offer from the current best team in the land for, let's say, Hull? LOL

I'm sure if Wigan are in the running, it'll be a long hard decision to be made by Scott. Weighing up the option of playing close to his current home or having his name in the history books whilst winning trophies.

I didnt mention hull . I could see him joining leeds tbh but ive heard off someone close to scott(yes that old chestnut) that wigan is big no no due to travelling reason so I would think that puts wire out too . But time will tell

I think he's looked pretty impressive, certainly not far off McDonnell.

He talks a lot as well which is something really important in a full back. He might be talking rubbish though.

We need cover there but unless there's someone really outstanding available and affordable I'll be more than happy to see him given the number one jersey next season.

Indeed, thought he was very solid. Love the way he positions his hands to catch and didnt drop a thing. Positional play will come with a string of games with familiar players. I'd tell him the number 1 jersey is his.

Travis Burns signing means he can do both where he is.

Hmm, the problem with predictions is you focus on your own team and not those around. I think Rovers squad will be weaker on paper next year, but so will most other clubs. As long as you are prepared to pay the market rate for your best homegrown talent, you'll be fine.

Rovers top 4 next season no question. This man Burns is something special, Clint Newton was something special, according to him Burns is passion personified, if Clint says he will be good thats good enough for me. This team are not far off the finished article. We have given nearly every team a game being within a score of most only Hull have hammered us recently that was down to passion something with Burns in the team we will refind. Sandercock is a good coach given time working with players like Salter he will make Hull Kingston Rovers great once more. Everything will come together including our magnificent kc stand.

How will we be weaker?

Burns better than Green
Paterson better than Galea
Gleeson as good as Webster (although my 7 year old son would be as good as Webster

).
Tum better than Wheeldon
Sheriff better than McDingle

And more to come, granted more may leave but over all I think our squad is already stronger for next season!
