| Sandra., do you mean 'souped' up cars lol!
Had a mini cooper (I called it Bess) years ago that had all sorts of lights flashing which I ignored, a dodgy petrol guage (caught me out a few times), a smudged fingerprint on the left headlamp (it was a barstool to fit), but it had a top speed of 90mph and she earned me loadz of money re mileage allowance (in my auditing days). Then one day, on my way to Portsmouth she blew up (literally), should have heeded those warning lights but I got 95,000 miles out of her. Best car I have ever had. Tried out the new mini but it was too 'clinical' for my liking.

| David Weir is an animal.
Speaking of the paralympics I'm so glad that channel 4 have taken it seriously and have actually done a bang-up job over it as I did fear the worst when I saw they were showing it.

There'll be 3 or 4 who'll miss out, who would have strolled it in any other year.

Also the team award will probably be between team GB and ParalympicsGB and I wouldn't like to make that decision.

Channel4 have pumped a lot of money into the coverage and marketing of the Paralympics to their credit. Although they've exceeded my expectations too.
The only downside is seeing my drinking friend and fellow polar bear on TV every night, getting paid to wisecrack and basically wander round the Olympic Park doing what he wants. Very jealous.

I'm pretty sure you alluded to that, otherwise I wouldn't have remembered, I recall thinking at the time that you must have some sort of magic fanny.

I, too, am looking forward to some lively (and wildly bizarre) exchanges on here over the winter.
Got another 5/6 weeks before I have to seriously start dealing with those Office Christmas parties. I recently catered a Goth/Vampire themed wedding, all very normal apart from a request for 'loads of cheesy footballs, until I saw the wedding cake (I don't do cakes) it was covered in black icing and decorated with little bats and spiders webs. When the couple cut into the middle of it it gushed blood all over, it had been filled with a red berry coulis
'"
I fear the Goth's with there large shoes and big coats. I find they all have long miserable faces, except my ex boss who is a fat little cow. The cake is actually quite creative.
Quote ="Mild Rover"2. Never drink in a pub with a flat roof. (shamelessly stolen from Mr Field of the Leeds board)'"
That is a good and solid rule one of Ms. Terrorist's silly friends from used to live in a pub with a flat roof, she stupidly married some sort of gangster type who'd been banged up for man slaughter. It was one of the most terrifying establishments I have ever had the misfortune to encounter. Said gangster once regailed me of the time he beat up his own guard dog and threw it in one of those big rubbish bins that the Americans call dumpsters, I failed to hide my horror and could see I went down in the gangsters estimations.
I would, add pubs that have large banners outside.

You sound like you were truely in love, my experience is only with rubbish cars.
I once aquired a Lada Samara, the hight of Russian engineering. It was their attempt to make a modern car. It was only good at driving in snow and crashing. I was on first name terms with most of West Yorkshire's AA men.
The gas had gone in the piston things that hold up the boot lid so it had to be propped up with a broom handle. Quite frequently as you put your shopping in it you would catch the broom handle and the boot would smash you on the bonce guillotine style. The doors also would often refuse to unlock but the boot would so you had to climb through the boot to access the car.
One day Ms. Terrorist was going to work when the car wouldn't unlock so she climbed into to the boot but abset mindedly forgot to unlock the rear seat. This error was compounded when she managed to kick and dislodge the broom handle causing the boot lid to slam shut and trap her in the boot. She had effectively kidnapped herself. Fortunately she was an early adopter in the area of mobile telephony and was able to ring a friend who arrived half an hour later to set her free.

| Well Heather Mills has finally managed to shoe-horn herself on Channel 4 paralympic coverage.
I did wonder how long it would take the talentless media magnet to manage it.

I don't know anything about your other sportspeople, but winning the Olympic title and a grandslam in tennis is major stuff.

Sarah Storey has won 5 Gold, 8 Silver and 3 Bronze in Para swimming which span 92-04, She has then gone on to win another 6 Golds in Cycling from the 08 and 12 games giving her a total of 11 Gold, 8 Silver and 3 bronze over a career spanning from Barcelnona in 92 to london in 2012 (20 years).
David weir is another one Winning Gold in the para 800M, 1500M, 500M and marathon which is unheard of.
Sir Chris Hoy winning another Gold to make him Britians most successful Olympian of all time.
Mo farrah being the first British man to win the 10,000M and winning the 5,000M as well.
Jess Ennis winning the Heptathlon when the weight of the UK was on her shoulders as the poster girl of the London 2012 olympic games.
Ellie Simmons was again the poster girl of The Paralypic games 2012 she won 2 Gold, 1 Silver and 1 Bronze she also smashed 1 world record by 7 seconds
Jonnie Peacock at the age on 19 destroyed probably the best 100M para final of all time.
Hannah Cockroft lit up the Para games with he lovely smile and won 2 Golds in the process.
Bradley Wiggings being the first ever British winner of the tour de france and then backing it up with an emphatic Gold in the time trial at the olympics.
There is every chance I has missed a few as well.
In any other year they would all walk away with the Sport personality of the year.
That was why I mention Andy Murray as he is just another one that would win no doubt in any other year.
Only 1 can when they all would in another year which was MR's point.

| Yeah, I know.
I remember once chatting to Norman jay at the old T&C, Dave Beer was hanging about, being a cock as usual, and Norman saying; "It ain't what you get or what you get, it's what you give".
Profound guy Norman.

| I think Prawn Face is going to have a stroke.
He's been going chicken oriental all day about the amount of his clients that keep ringing him up.
Every time he goes out I stick two or three post it notes on his screen saying; "Please call Mr. Lavender" or some such. Then I go out.

| Just seen a clip of Phil Lowe scoring his try for Manly in t'Sydney big cup final in '76. Manly were proper good in the 70s - that's why roopy doesn't like 'em, I reckon. Anyway Lowe was wearing the 9 shirt, which was a bit weird. I wonder if it was like the Dutch football team at that time that assigned squad numbers alphabetically (unless you were Johann Cruyff)?
