Apparently he has no intention of playing for England (What are the chances if selection anyway) as he classes himself as Aussie with regard to international RL (Again what are the chances of selection anyway).
He has stated that he has had a row with his mother over it as she has said that her being English means he should at least consider it.
He also made the point that due to his views he wouldn't feel the honour for playing for England that a genuine Englishman such as Scott Taylor would.
It is such a shame that others that have even less connection to England than Rhys does don't see it the same.

Whilst his 'I'm an Aussie and won't sell out to England' is an admirable stance and a refreshing change from the Rangi Chase debacle. It does make a bit of mockery of his British passport situation IMO. Without his English heritage/passport he wouldn't be playing in this country.

That is a fair point and one I hadn't thought of.
After listening to the interview I got the impression he wouldn't entertain the idea even if it came off because of the fact that he wouldn't see it as much of an honour are a English born players would (He gave the example of Scott Taylor).

Indeed. I didn't really want to say it. But it smacks of double standards in a way. One one hand he's here playing basically as a British citizen to the RFL, but on the other saying he has no affiliation to this country and is basically an Aussie, bending the rules to his advantage.

I hear what he's(you're) saying about it would be lesser honour because he's not English born, but I still see a bit of a conflict of interests. Still, I haven't actually heard the interview so shouldn't really be drawing any conclusions.

The impression I got was that the honour part was a key issue.
I can kinda see his point.
An Aussie born Englishman wouldnt feel the same honour that an English born Englishman would when playing for the national side.

If the English born Englishmen wear the shirt and play with pride then I must've missed it. I haven't seen either in over 20 years.

Tho i agree it's a position we are strong in as a country to say Rhys has no chance of playing for England cos he isn't good enough is just plain ridculous he makes massive metres, puts in plenty of drives and is near the top of the tackle count every week. As a loose man the only area he lacks in is his ball handling. But you name me an english 13 who has everything??
