Paul Mansson is in at Stand off, and im delighted. Now onto his partner, only one winner for me:
James Webster - Instrumental in guiding the club to where we are today, both on and off the field he contributed massively.

Think that is always the slight difficulty in judging this - do you choose, best, most important or favourite? Given Rovers rise in the latter half of the decade they can be quite different things. Still interesting to see people's opinions, though.

| This is tough, best is Dobson, and probably most popular would have to be Webster.
However (and I know he won't win the award) I think Latham Tawhai is deserving of a nomination, as I thought he was a cracking little player for us whilst he was here

careful, you will upset the 'bring back Fletch, McClarron, Everitt because they will cut it in Super League' brigade.
Are we voting for THE BEST or are we voting for our favourites ? Cooke is head and shoulders a better player than Mansson.
My vote go's for Dobson, because he is the best scrum half we have had in donkey's years. Webbo is a hero, no doubting that and he served the club well, but he was below average in SL, Dobson is one of the best scrum halves in SL.

Guffaw! Are they making you work this weekend to make up for your snow bound days?
Realistically, it has to be Dobson.
"Team of the Decade" implies best players, that's Dobson. Most important? Webster, certainlsy above anybody else.
I think it's a shame that Webster wastn't a little bit bigger and therefore hadn't been such a target in defence. Maybe then he could have been an answer to our hooking situation, or at least kept as half back and hooker cover much like Obst at Wakey.

Ah, I see, because I have a different opinion to you I obviously don't go to watch Rovers.Hmmm.
For your information I've seen enough of both to come to the conclusion that there's not much difference between their abilities as scrum halfs and for me Webbo's unquestioned leadership on the field, a real "general" swing the decision for me. Take Dobson out of the team and it's a blow (a big one), take Webbo out and it's crippling.

Is anyone suggesting that we bring back Fletch, McClarron or Everitt? If you don't think Fletch in his prime would have made a good SL player then you're probably in a minority of one. But I think to bring him back now is probably a year or two too late
Since we're making sweeping generalistations I guess that you're choices are based on the fact you've only seen Rovers in SL

No, far too important to them to pi$$ me off
Don't get me wrong, Webbo was fantastic for us, he came when we needed a leader and at NL1 level he was awesome, but in SL he was ordinary, if Morgan thought he had something long term to offer a Super League side (which is exactly what we are now), he would have ridden out his injury and kept him.
As for size, its irrelevant, you should know this supporting a side that had a certain Roger Millward play for it.
No-one will be more grateful than me for what Webbo did for us, but we are in a different place now and in my opinion Dobson is a far more complete player than Webbo, with a lot more tactical skills. I am basing my selection on best players of the decade, rather than any other reason, which is hard for me to look any further than what we have now. This seems to indicate to some on here that I have only watched Rovers since SL and don't recall the Joe's, Mansson's, McClarrons etc, when in fact I remember them very well, which is why I have chosen the current players, mainly because they are light years ahead of them.

The modern game favours the larger players , the 10m rule has seen to that.
Roger often used to play a sweeper role , between the defence line and the full back. He was a good tackler though.

| Dobson does seem the obvious choice but he has been at your club a season and half only. Admittedly he had a great season for you last year and won the accolades for it. But for me he failed to impress in the two big play off games. Of course there were other factors involved in those games as well.
Webbo was instrumental to you getting into the SL as well as helping you stay there in that tough first season.
Tough choice but if it was my club i think Webbo would get the vote just for sentimental reasons alone.

Size isn't everything, I'll give you, but it was a lot [iless[/i important in Sir Roger's day than now, as already pointed out with the 10 metre rule and full time professionalism small half back are specifically targeted, that's what happened to Webster, as it does with Dobson.
Joe I'll give you, awful for us, carved himself a decent career in Cumbria but no where SL.
McClarron I'd have been interested to see how he went at SL level with full time training and proper coaching as he had raw pace and wasn't a small lad. Not as good as either of our current wingers or Luke Dyer, who I'd have liked us to keep quota allowing, apart from his irritating little brother posting on here!
I chose Mansson over Cooke, purely because in I thought he was better in a red and white shirt on a consistent basis than Cooke's been, he'd have made a great partner to Dobson. Cooke does have the odd flash of extreme brilliance but they're too few and far between for what we're paying him, also our plays indicate as has been well documented above that Morgan appears to lack faith in him.
Give me the circa 2004-05 version of Cooke and I'd snap your hand off, the one we got is a pale imitation.
