| Post match comments by Morgan saying that he wants to give contracts to reserve players and bring them through fully for next year. Liam Watts notably (Mrs B will be chuffed to hear about this ![Very Happy icon_biggrin.gif](//www.rlfans.com/images/smilies//icon_biggrin.gif) ).
Morgan also stated he's looking at British based players, having 'quiet' talks with them.
I see Ryan Esders has just gone over for Quins against Bradford too.
Here's hoping Morgan keeps hold of Esders because he does look a good player.

Totally agree.
TBH wouldn't be at all surprised if Quins offer him a deal.

What would you do if they offered that 'average Aussie' Lovegrove a new deal?

Judging by the pitiful amount they just offered a good British Prop in the Championship I am guessing they are sticking by average Aussies
Please do not try and argue that Lovegrove is more than an Average Aussie. If he was average or better than he would be playing NRL.
The Aussies didn't want him so he pitched up here, that makes him less than average, or am I wrong?

TBF Ryan has been playing SL and has looked pretty decent for Quins, Watts however has been playing NL1 and was very poor when Gateshead were on Sky last week, though granted that was only one game.
Ryan signature is a must imo.

Thats a strange take on what has happened to Lovegrove, just remind me how old he was when he arrived here?, and what opportunities he had in the NRL?, think you may just have a problem with him mate, most Rovers fans think he's been outstanding since his switch to prop, and even some FC fans commented last week on how good he was.

You do know it's part of the rules that you have to have 7 homegrown players in next season's squad don't you? It's hardly a genuine commitment to bringing your own players through, just signing them to comply with the basic minimum homegrown quota
We had this tosh from Morgan at the start of the 2008 season. Welham apart, you're going into your 4th season having brought no one through. Don't get me wrong, it's been a good tactic, but to claim that it's all sorted out because you're "promoting" some academy kids is silly.

I certainly agree with you phil, Lovegrove was around 20-21 when he came to rovers and once he settled in started to look the business, remember his fine perfomancs against Hull at the KC, in our first SL season?
Unfortunately he was injured for some time and took a little while to retreive his early form, however since coming back from injury he has got better and better and looks one of the in form props in super league at present,
He is still only very young and i believe he will turn out to be one of the best overseas aquasitions in many a year.

Jason Demetriou has been a good SL player despite not making much of an impact in Oz. One-time Rovers target Matt King hasn't been that good since coming to the UK. It is about what they are doing on the pitch, not the route they took to get there. Sometimes people aren't appreciated in their own land - Jimmy Hogan, Brian Bevan, Eric Cantona, erm... Scissor sisters.

It's unthinkable that he could've improved as a player in the last 3 years, obviously!

OK. He's a no more than average Aussie. I guess that would make him better than 49% of NRL players and worse than 49%. He is however, happily for us and sadly for you, doing a great job for Hull KR.
At the end of the day that's all that really bothers me.

| What clouds peoples judgement about imports is that they expect them to come over and just walk through the opposition and score 900 tries a season, otherwise they are a "flop". People should look at performances on the pitch, rather than names in the programme before been to judgemental.

| Lovegrove is quality... his work ethic is fanastic.
Looks for 2 drives in every set and always looks to get the extra yard in a tackle.
IMO would be a loss if not a robin next year.

He had every opportunity, they would not of released a 20 year old with any potential to break into the first team.
I have no gripe with him, I just dont like Aussie taking the shirt of equally capable British kids, especially when bending the rules to do it.
He is taking a five figure salary away from a British player who could potentially miss out on a career in RL because of second rate Aussies coming here and taking their shirts.
How can we ever improve British RL when we allow so many to come over here and bleed the game dry?
It stinks.

Yep, Mike Burnett, Scott Wheeldon, Ryan Esders and Iain Morrison never do that do they
I like Michael Dobson cos he passes and catches the ball and he kicks it whenever he can. He is so much better than Rob Burrow because of that.

| Personally I prefer to leave team selection to a coach who's taken us from NL1 to 4th in Super League. Just a personal preference. Other people might prefer to leave it in the hands of some no mark with an agenda.
