The whole thing is very subjective anyway at this stage and if you ran your team by 100 people you'd probably get close to 100 variations on who should stay/be replaced and where you needed to improve. Nobody starts with a team and then never changes it so don't fuss too much over your initial line up. Pick a team that you think will get you a steady stream of points over the season and then once the season is underway you will be able to spot the strengths and weaknesses in your team for yourself and change where needed. Just make sure you pick a coach as well as 13 players (or you won't get any points).

I'd say cheap forwards. There area few bargain second rowers who get you a few tries. Then try-scoring backs who'll bring in guaranteed points.

These teams make a change from ones with about 8 kickers and forwards costing 60k

That was my idea behind the rule changes, to make the game more competitive/skilful instead of having 600 teams that look the same!

It's so tactical, I feel like a real manager

It's very difficult to put a value on forwards. With no points for defence other than not being on the losing side it's always going to be tricky. Also the measurements for a forward are more subjective, could you measure meters gained, tackles made, missed tackles and how would you score them to balance out the try scoring from the backs???

I tried to pick forwards that'd play every week and grab the odd try but that don't cost the earth.

We are actually looking into having a scoring factor for the forwards but it won't be introduced until next season. We are making big impact changes each year, 2012: new look system, 2013: points for kickers and other system tweaks, 2014: forwards? and anything else we think of.

Maybe tries counting double for forwards?

Negative points for sending off and sin bins.. or is that already a rule?
