| Was in a new Wetherspoons called The Great Glen in Fort Will.I.Am (lol) yesterday.
Oh the insidious creep of Tim Martin's empire.
Apart from Guinness which is hard to cock up, they could not pull a pint of real ale with a creamy head on it.
Tim Martin please train your staff properly.
I have spoken!

| Anyone any suggestions for a pre-game pint in Dews? I know about the WR Refreshment Rooms. Anywhere else that does good ale? Cheers.

Three John Scotts (a Weatherspoons) - English Garden 3.8%
Wold Top Yorkshire Tenner 4.1%
Ye Olde White Harte - Deutchers IPA
Brains (can't remember what type)
All very nice. ![Smile icon_smile.gif](//www.rlfans.com/images/smilies//icon_smile.gif)

| RGB (Real Goosnargh Bitter) - Goosnargh Brewing Company
Had that in No39 in Darwen last night ... A new name to me in terms of real ale but decent enough.
The Crown is definitely the place to be in Darwen town centre though (Broadside one of 4 on offer).

| Sampled Thornbridge Roc Fall for the first time in the Cross Keys (York) on Monday afternoon. Very enjoyable, as was the Pennine Coppa Rup in the Lamb & Lion.
The York Tap had both Rudgate Ruby Mild and Thornbridge Lord Marples on ... Excellent!

| Had an excellent night round Lymm on Saturday evening. Highlights being Caledonian Flying Scotsman at the Church Green, Dunham Massey Deer Beer at the recently opened Lymm Brewery Tap and McMullens AK at the Sadlers Arms.

| The Sun Inn (junction of York Road & Barnsley Road, north of Doncaster) currently has Banks's Black Diamond 4.0%.
Described as '[iquite a conundrum. Dark in colour, yet light in palate, rich yet refreshing, the looks of a Stout, but very much a Bitter, hints of dark malt, but with a blast of aromatic hops. Seeing isn't believing - but tasting is![/i' it certainly is something different and whilst I couldn't drink it all night it is certainly a refreshing change.

| He's doing a sterling job of reducing alcoholism in the wider populus by supping most of the ale.

| Just returned from a couple of days based on the outskirts of Sowerby Bridge.
The Polished Knob in Todmorden was well worth a visit with the Captain Cook Endeavour (bitter) very enjoyable.
Castle Rock Preservation also much appreciated in the Albert, Hebden Bridge.
Returned via Holmfirth and called for one at the Nook. Their own Rescue Red being the chosen drink.
