| Quote ="Donny"Slight note - Liam Hoden (of the Star, formerly of the Free Press) has confirmed that John Ryan has told him Rovers ownership of the Dons, and the Club Doncaster partnership will continue as before, and Gavin Baldwin will remain with both clubs.'"
This from Carl Hall seems to echo that and also promises a bigger budget for next season.

| Just wondered if any of the Dons fans can answer this ?
I've just read Carl Halls Press Release [i“We are pleased to announce that former Doncaster Rovers owner John Ryan and One Direction’s Louis Tomlinson have signed heads of terms to become the new owners of Doncaster Rovers, Doncaster RLFC and the Foundation.'[/i
Now forgive me if I'm wrong but is the Community Foundation like others in Sport ,not a charity and therefore cant be 'owned' but should be overseen by a board of trustees / management committee ?

| You are right Rach. Someone cannot "buy" or "own" a charity. A charity is governed by a board of Trustees, who are responsible for it's operation. Charities can merge (or takeover other charities) but they cannit be bought.

Cheers for that mate ..wasn't trolling or attempting to cause trouble , it just seemed a strange statement to make in view of the status of Charitable Foundations , so to say they now 'own' it is a massive pork pie ..

| Anyone fancy shelling out £250 to have their photo taken with our One Dimension (sorry Direction) boss?
Good value if there are 250 of you.
He aims to raise £2,000,000 for the club.
Mmmmmmh?

| The aim is to milk Tomlinson for all its worth.
Get 250 suckers (1D fans) to cough up a total of 2million quid. Ryan gets the money to keep Rovers going for a bit and a bit of publicity and Tomlinson gets his percentage of the 2 million paid into a guernsey bank account to be paid as a dividend at some point. Tomlinson will then walk off into the sunset and wont be seen again at the Keepmoat.
Call me a cynic but thats what will happen. I dont give a monkeys about the Rovers what worries me is where we will stand in all of this soap opera.

| I agree Karlos.
There is something deeply unethical about this and it makes me feel uneasy.
I read through the comments on the crowdfunder page. One girl has pledged all her birthday money. I wonder how many parents know that their [i[uchildren[/u[/i are pledging money.
It refers to the Tomlinson-Ryan Trust. I've checked the charities commission, and it's not a charitable trust. So what sort of trust is it? A trust for tax purposes?
All of Louis Tomlinson's company interests are registered to an address in the Republic of Ireland. Is this for "tax purposes"?

Oh dear. It would appear the biter is bit. This article sums up a lot of Rovers fans feeling
www.mediaactivist.com/blog/
I for one am all in favour of a steady hand on the tiller and I'm fairly confident that we (The Dons) will be ok and we have a damn good reason IMO to be optimistic.
Never easy is it being a Doncaster sports fan ?

Speaking to BBC Radio Sheffield, Ryan said it was "a dark day for football".
[uHe added: "Louis and I were just looking to do the right thing but this is the end of my involvement in football now.[/u
"It has been a long love affair between myself and Doncaster Rovers but it has hit the buffers today.
"The way I feel right now I doubt I will ever go to another football match in my life."
A Doncaster Rovers spokesman said: "We have today received the statement on behalf of the Tomlinson Ryan Trust confirming the Crowdfunder project has failed to reach the terms of the funding arrangements.
"We are aware that the statement confirms that the proposed deal to takeover the club is now in doubt, we are awaiting formal confirmation that the takeover deal will not complete as expected on Friday 18 July."'"
Please let this be true. John Ryan, by pursuing such a public course of action has thoroughly embarrassed himself and lost all remaining shreds of credibility he had. If the outcome is that Bramall and Watson's family are still the owners then I am satisfied.

| Well it was a pretty crappy bid then if it relied on begging from the public to total £2,000,000 to kick start it.
And what of Tomlinson's money?
Sweet fanny?

| I am inclined to believe Tomlinson, it certainly backs up what we all thought:

| This business seems like quite a complicated one but I think Louis Tomlinson's allegation of being misled wasn't aimed at John Ryan. It was aimed at the legal advisers who put the takeover package together in the first place.
John Ryan and Louis Tomlinson had probably been advised by their legal team that the the takeover would be okay without the "cash" raised from the fund, but the football league's new "fit for purpose" tests demanded that without sufficient "available cash" in their back pockets, the takeover couldn't be allowed. Consequently, because they hadn't got sufficient cash funds themselves to meet the football league's requirements, the takeover did became dependent on the cash raised through the fund, and there wasn't enough of it.
I have some sympathy for John Ryan and Louis Tomlinson in this matter.
On the other hand, whilst John Ryan has undeniably done a lot to help Donny Rovers, his attitude at times does disappoint me.

| I have no sympathy what so ever for John Ryan. But I am willing to offer him some advice for the future. Do your business in private not through the press. You won't be left with massive egg on your face then.

| The reason I have sympathy for John Ryan is that I feel the takeover has become a victim of the incompetencies of others in football - leading to a severe tightening up of the "fit for purpose" rules, which have impacted on John Ryan and Louis Tomlinson.
Twelve months ago, I'd guess this takeover would have been allowed to go through by the football league.

| "Fit for purpose" means "are they rich enough"
Look at Leeds United's new owners sacking players cause they were born on the 17th. But he has plenty of money so it's OK.

| Well it looks like fit for purpose is not just being rich enough, but having a certain amount of liquidity (ie cash, not just assets).
So R and T don't have that cash, or can't or can't be ar/sed to raise it.
Paupers!
They wanted it for jack sh/it basically.
