Stancill Ginger Pale 4.0%, a sweet and spicy ale predominantly about the ginger.

Still in the Gatehouse;

Dukeries Northern Rising 4.7%, malty with fruit, chestnut and toffee in the mix.

Very nice, we appear to have accepted Worksop in to South Yorkshire ....

Couple of ales in Spouters Corner, Wood Green en-route to the rugby ....

Sambrooks Wandle 3.8%, a very palatable best bitter.

Nethergate Mary's Ruby Mild 4.5%, second time in about a week, wonderful.

Across the road to the Nags Head, ended up with Wells Bombadier which probably tells a story.

It does, the most unremarkable pint ever in the Turnpike at Bawtry.

Caveman Brewery Caveman Ale in the ground .... marvellous!

Liverpool this evening after today's events at the Reebok (I know, but it'll always be that to me) ...

First up a pint of Flagship Beer Silhouette 4.5%, a dark and dry coffee-flavoured roasted stout in the Ship & Mitre.

Next couple ...

The very enjoyable Stamps Brewery Gitane Zarah's Rum Porter 4.6%, malty, sweet and creamy in the Vernon Arms.

Mobberley Brewhouse 1924, an amber ale at 4.0% in Thomas Rigbys.

The Dead Crafty Beer Co. ...

Not truly real ale, a craft ale ( yes they can then charge more), Four Horsemen Mixed Berry Chocolate Stout 5.8% ... £4.50 per schooner (yep, 2/3rds pint).

The clue was in the brewer's name.

Dr Hexter's Healer, a very nice strong bitter at 5.0% with a hint of marmalade from the West Berkshire Brewery, in the Dove & Rainbow, Sheffield.

Another Brewery which is new to me, Fyne Ales from Cairndow, Scotland have Vital Spark 4.4% available in the Sheffield Tap.

Curiously, it's referred to as an English Mild on the Untappd app but is badged as 'very dark rich ale'.

Wouldn't put anyone off especially if you like the flavour of berries.

9 Gallon, Warrington;

Four Kings George 4.5%, brewed by the Hyde Brewery to celebrate St. George's Day, this Bitter is malty with added caramel.

Another malty bitter in 9 Gallon from local brewer 4T's, WSB or to give it its full name Warrington Special Bitter. 4.2% and another flavoured with caramel.

Have just been introduced to yet another excellent Ruby Mild. This time Pitchfork Brewery Hewish Ruby 4.0% in the Lower Angel, Warrington. Dark, sweet & nutty and very nice indeed.

Spoons South Yorkshire Beer Festival;

The Red Lion first for Kelham Best, an amber bitter at 3.8%.

Still in the Red Lion;

The always delicious Fuggle Bunny Chapter 8 Jammy Dodger 4.5% is next up. Dark and malty with coffee and fruit flavours, always a winner!

Over to the Gatehouse;

Kelham Island Pale Rider 5.2%, never been my sort of drink but I understand that this is quite a favourite amongst those who enjoy Pale Ales.

I do but not this one, never floated my boat.

Highlights of an enjoyable weekend in Hereford (punctuated with a visit to Llanelli for the Dons fixture against West Wales Raiders);

Bristol Beer Factory Milk Stout 4.5% in the Beer In Hand. Chocolate, coffee and dark fruit ... delicious!
Butcombe Original 4.0% in the Lichfield Vaults. A top amber session bitter.
Tiny Rebel Cwtch 4.6% in Gordon Bennett's. A very nice caramel-flavoured red ale.
Milestone Black Pearl 4.3% also in Gordon Bennett's. A creamy coffee stout.

Sunday ...
Caledonian Edinburgh Castle 4.1% in Hogarths. Scottish 80/- ale, ruby in colour, dark, sweet and malty.
Hogarths The Bruiser 4.0% also in Hogarths. Traditional best bitter brewed at Hogarths in Bolton.
Nottingham Rock Mild 3.8% in The King's Fee. A lovely drink, fruit, biscuit and nut flavours.

Just had an IPA which as a one-off I quite enjoyed ...

Beatnikz Republic Brewing Co Tropical IPA 5.6% in 9 Gallon, Warrington. Full of mango and pineapple, very nice on a warm evening.

Back on familiar turf (in drinking preference), Silloth Porter 4.5% from the Derwent Brewery as sampled in the Lower Angel, Warrington is dark and rich and flavours include Chocolate, Coffee and Orange.

Barnsley Bitter (Stancill version) on good form in the Corner Pin tonight.

Also tried Yorkshire Heart Rhu-Bar Beer 3.7%. Whilst I wouldn't be a fan of Rhubarb, it was nice enough.
