| Grimsby back to Doncaster and then out to Leeds (trains happily running on time). The Untappd app reporting that the last one had been on in two 'Spoons in Leeds last night.
The Leeds Station Wetherspoons did indeed have;
Otter Springfest 4.0%, a sweet fruity golden ale brewed with German hops.
Full House in record time.

| Post match in Newcastle yesterday was a bit of mixed bag.
The Mile Castle ('Spoons) seemed to have run out of most of the beers on display. Fortunately, they did have Adnams Gunhill 4.0%.
The Union Rooms is no longer a Wetherspoons, apparently sold in February 2017.
A first visit to the Newcastle Tap however yielded the excellent Titanic Plum Porter 4.9%, always very welcome.

| Had a couple of very nice porters last night;
Sambrooks Powerhouse Porter 4.9% in the Red Lion, Doncaster and Ossett Brewery Progress Porter 4.4% in the Gatehouse.
The first was a delicious smoked coffee flavoured ale with the latter being an oaty and malty drink.

| First up at the Doncaster 'Spoons South Yorkshire Beer Festival is Geeves Clear Cut, an American-style Pale Ale 4.4% in the Red Lion.
Hints of lemon but more grapefruit and a pine aftertaste. As has been suggested earlier in the thread, this one is not really to my taste.

| Next up, Acorn Old Moor Porter 4.4%.
No surprises here, a regular in the 'Spoons in Doncaster and a beer which never disappoints. Rich and creamy, this is a Victorian-style coffee-flavoured porter with a hint of liquorice.

| Third Festival Ale today (putting me in mind of the ill-fated Flying Scotsman on Silver Street) is Chantry Brewery's Special Reserve 6.3%.
Referred to as an 'old' or 'traditional' ale, this sweet dark strong ale is toffee and chocolate flavoured.

| Over to our Gatehouse correspondent, oh yes, that's still me ...
Fuggle Bunny 24 Carrot 6.0%, hoppy and citrusy (if that's a word), I guess I'd have to refer to this as a strong IPA.

Geeves Fully Laden 6.0%, this one is an English IPA badged as a World IPA. Strong and hoppy with fruit flavours.
