I talked to some people who came for the first time this season ... all they saw was garbage ... that's what they said.
They weren't bothered about the overall season, they expected MORE ....TODAY!
We will lose both play- off games based on that brittle display.
Feel free to gloat if I am wrong.

If the last two weeks were the other way round we'd be all full of optimism; it happened to be they weren't. I don't base my judgements of the season on how the calender happened to fall

Sorry Jemmo, I've only missed 1 game all season (and that was through work), so I think that gives me better right to comment. I was tempted to walk out too.

Batley were the better side today. We were shocking. Beating Halifax was like beating Leigh - the worst thing that could have happened to us.

Never have we backed up a good win, or killed a team off completely. Harsh but true.

We should have been going out today on a high. But how can we now after dropping from 3rd to 4th and being comprehensively hammered by a side that was all set to be relegated this morning.

It's put a really sour note on the season end.

But that was almost like we had a bet on.

They wanted it more and got what they deserved. We lacked creativity throughout the game, but a lot of that was down to Batleys enthusiasm. As for the season as a whole, done brilliantly to finish fourth, could have, and maybe should have in the end, been even better, but not to be. Hopefully bad performance out of the way.

This is exactly what I wanted to put. I was thinking of putting something in the 2015 squad thread - not sure who we need to recruit to do it but we need greater consistency. Also if I heard right on my way out of the stadium Fev lost so we could have come second.

I'm not in denial; I am not saying today wasn't awful; it was. I am saying to let today define the season and the last chance for many to show appreciation for that season; in my opinion, is wrong.

And you're not only as good as your last performance, or we'd be relegated. You're as good as a culmination of 26 league fixtures, in which we have been shown to be the fourth best side.

We were ought-battled, out-fought, and second best today. Credit to Batley for turning up and putting in a very good performance.

Batley fans will be jubilant today ... because they avoided relegation.

It seems as though the Donny fans are suicidal ... because we've only finished fourth.

We can't judge the season on the back of a bad display today. That would be totally unfair on the players.

The players will be hurting just as much as much - if not more - than we are as fans. They will feel they let themselves down today - and let the fans down.

Sport being what it is means that we can't win every week no matter how hard we try, or how much we want it. Bad performances happen. Today was one of them. Let's keep it in perspective.

Well done to Batley, they deserved that win. We have no more right to just turn up because we were third in the League (nice for a week) than the man in the moon. Out played from minute one and whilst watching the warm ups I thought that we would be up against it, albeit not by that much. The frustrating aspect for the Batley fans given todays showing is why oh why have they had to rely on the final day to cement their place in the Championship. We looked light today and as someone else has posted the win over Leigh took it out of us and last week game appears to have done the same. That is the beautiful vagary of sport and long may it continue, who in their right mind wants predictability, shallow and for glory hunters. We are trying to build something here, stability and it comes at a price for people who want the Halifax result every week.

Well done Batley, wanted it from the start and we couldn't get into the game.

I agree that what the team have achieved for the season has been great, however today's performance was not in that class, so to criticise the paying public for leaving after 75 minutes when another soft try had been conversed appeared harsh and not really high maintenance.
We have consolidated our position with no relegation fears and the playoffs to come, that does need applauding.

I think Batley should be applauded for their performance today. Best performance by any visiting team at the Keepmoat, and arguably as good as anything we have served up this season.
Batley's back 3 of Greenwood Brown and Rettie, did shed loads of work and got them going forward.

As for the Dons I think its been a superb season, one that we've over achieved significantly. To finish 4th is massive and Cooky and his team need to be applauded, and in my opinion deserved a better reception at the end of the game. (But that's just my opinion)

I thought they were about the fourth best side we have played at home.
And our performance was the worst.

Yeah we may well recover, but I doubt it.
We will be playing Leigh away and then probably Sheffield at home ... kiss the season goodbye.

I thought we took a big step backwards today, Cookey was almost invisible today apart from an intercept pass with shades of Holroyd.

Still we've had a good season.

Perhaps if you'd have been a bit more consistent all season and not reliant on others on the final day (just a thought) ...

Or we could have just played some duel reg players that shouldnt have played and gained extra points that way?
