Andy Clarke taking out Les Holiday (and getting sent off) in the first feww minutes of that game against Dewsbury in the play offs was a master stroke, as everything Dewsbury had planned hinged on Holiday. It won us the game.
Oh if only we had a plyer like Holiliday in our side now...

| My earliest memory was Jamie Bloem's Hattrick against Cas at Tattersfield in the Big League, but my most recent memories are the Comeback at home to gain a draw against Whitehaven when we were 20 points behind with 15 minutes left and the NL2 Grand Final at Warrington in 2008

I was there that day and after the game the Hull KR hooligans (Minority) smashed the windows of one of the supporters coaches, That game also saw the Debut of Paul Cook for the Dons

I never fancied myself as a spotter of future talent, but watching an A team game at Tattersfield they sent on to the field a big young lad from Cross Keys and he shot through the line as soon as he got the ball. I said to my friend God I hope they sign him. They did, it was Mervyn Hicks who was later to go to St Helens.
I also was there when Bernard Asquith laid out one of the opposition, story was he came round in DRI.

| Another memory of Bernard Asquith was the day he got sent off at Tattersfield for the umpteenth time as he was walking off the pitch Bernard was in a right rage he was cursing & swearing & as he walked down the tunnel underneath the main stand leading to the dressing rooms he kicked the wall several times he then climbed up the steps to the dressing rooms and as he reached the home dressing room door he punched the door and smashed his fist straight through the door unfortunately the Dons Physio Harry Miller who had been giving treatment to an injured player was stood directly behind the door and he got the full force of Bernards fist poor old Harry had to be brought round with smelling salts and after a few minutes he was back on his feet feeling very grogy and uncertain what had happened to him

| The Dons once had three professional wrestlers in there pack prop forwards George Goodyear,Mal Kirk & hooker Ted Heath.Mal Kirks mother always came to watch here son play at Tattersfield she always stood in the same spot every home game which was next to gate where the teams came on to the pitch as they emerged from the tunnel underneath the main stand.Mrs Kirk always carried an umberella and she could be seen pointing her brolly at the opposing players and shouting advice to Mal of which players he should try and take out of the game.I remember at the end of one particular game she opened the gate and went on to the pitch and when she found her son she prodded him with the umberella and shouted whats up with yer Mally you didn't hit anybody today.
Poor old Mal died in the wrestling ring during in a bout at Gt Yarmouth his opponent Big Daddy give Mal a body splash which caused Mal to suffer a massive fatal heart attack.

Knocked him out cold if I remember correctly and had to be attended to for what seemed ages. Folk should remember that when questioning the blokes commitment on that other thread.

| 1 The turnaround in fortune in 1985 under John Sheridan giving I believe Wakefield a hell of a game in a cup match at Tattersfield and then shortly afterwards stuffing Workington something like 46 -6 (their Coach resigned after the game)and Kev Jones charging through the mud at a pace up to then rarely glimpsed, and me thinking, "Hello we might just have a team here".
2 Who was the team that Phycso threw about four outrages dummies too at Belle Vue on his way under the sticks? Unbelievable try and the cheek of the little sod.
3 Greenies solo effort in beating Halifax at Belle Vue and their fans winning the all time sick as a parrot look.

| Watching the play off final with Steveage who have ex Rovers player Dino Maamria as assistant reminds me of when Singe ran him over in the Belle Vue car park after a Rovers training session that Singe was asked to take. Singe was not happy with Dinos workrate
Must admit a little bit of wee came out when i saw that.
