You won't get 400 people signing up though, only about 100.
The only people really interested, apart from those that could not make it or didn't know about it were at the meeting.
I don't think the people at the meeting were a significant subset of a bigger group of interested fans. If more fans were interested then why didn't they come?

Besides which, the money raised this way is at risk at source.
If Paul Cooke turns out to be a disappointment and people rag their pledges in, we are still committed to him for a year aren't we?
Not least because he has packed his job in to come and needs an income.
Much better to get some money by other means that is up front, then it doesn't matter. In other words, you already have the money and the risk is covered.

It's all right Carl saying he doesn't want to put the club at risk, but paying for Paul this way could do just that.
Don't put all your eggs in one basket would be my advice.

It shouldn't come to this of course, but you can't just pay the guy on promises.

I would class 400 as a poor attendance. You would think that at least that amount would give a fiver a month. If we were going to Wembley they'd be knocking the doors down. Typical Donny sporting public.

Not wishing to be a merchant of doom but if we don't raise the cash to get Paul Cooke and we finish 5th in the league (and don't go up) what a sickener that would be!

I hope the people of Donny support this initiative by the club.

I will be signing up for at least the £20 per month. Won't be going to too many away games, so it will be worthwhile just to try and escape the league of the damned in 2013.

Perhaps we should, but it should be made clear this is not a competition, small amounts have as much weight as larger amounts.
Also that people should not be made to feel awkward if they can't afford such as £20/£25 per month.

I think donations are a private thing, I think it's up to the club to tell us how near we are in total.
If they do that we have got a handle on the size of the work left to do.
In other words, I can't see everyone posting on here what they have donated and so we will not be any the wiser. It's up to the club early next week to give us the lowdown on the first batch of donations, which after all will be the bulk unless something else is done.

I myself took my pledge form away from the meeting to save time, others might have done the same. I haven't decided what to give yet. Our lass says she would sooner give it to charity. She will be disappointed then.



I will give the form to Ray Green on Saturday. He will be selling Christmas Draw tickets on Donny market from about 10:30 for about three hours. I will get some of those as well.

If anyone is in Donny on Saturday go and buy some off him or Richard Tuby at one of his Newsagents.

Of course it's not a competition. Every single contribution regardless of size is a step nearer to achieving our goal. No one should feel bad if they can't contribute either as our pockets ultimately determine what we can and can't do.

If we do post our pledges the "not sure" group can see that there are a significant number of us who are trying to do something positive. It might help others to see that the target is achievable and a small donation from them could really make a difference.

I also agree with Donny Plumber, lets not forget that this next year China has been given a testimonial for his long service to the Dons. Can we not let the Paul Cooke saga overshadow China's time. He has only been given 3 months which i think starts in Jan/Feb 2012.

I'm sure I can chuck a few pounds a month out of the Replacement Camera fund (nothings wrong with the current one, its just coming up to 'upgrade' time), I'll nip and have a word with Ray on Saturday.

He Probably could be the difference between the Dons and the rest if he knuckles down, great player on his day and will give any team plenty of width.
