A tough game,same 17 for me, they did little wrong last Sunday.

Should be a tough game, they are doing very well , and will be confident . As with weighman, see no reason to change team, injuries permitting .Home advantage should be enough to secure the points . Sadly i will miss this game due to holiday, pleasures of following a summer sport, and fixture list coming out after booking.

This shud b a decent game with Whitehaven doin well at the min aswell. They r only 6 points ahead of us in 6th place and we hav a game in hand aswell so COYD!!!

Match Preview

Doncaster Rugby League Club will entertain Whitehaven RLFC at the Keepmoat Stadium on Sunday 4th August in round 22 of the Kingstone Press Championship (3:00pm kick-off).

The Dons completed a rare double over Barrow Raiders last Sunday with a solid 32-4 victory on home soil which also concluded a hat-trick of successive league victories for the blue and gold's.

Liam Cunningham (shoulder) remains side-lined as Tony Miller's men continue their pursuit of a top-eight spot. Last weekend's victory has kept Doncaster in contention for the play-offs and have a game in hand on eighth-placed Dewsbury Rams.

Wakefield have recalled centre Danny Cowling for their Super League clash against Bradford and Kyle Trout has kept his place in the Wildcats squad. Shaun Leaf has therefore been added to the Dons squad.

The Dons have re-signed Featherstone Rovers winger Dave Scott on a month's loan to provide cover for Stewart Sanderson who is unavailable for a number of weeks. Sanderson's absence is a big blow for the club as the Cumbrian born winger has been in great form with the boot and ball in hand.

Miller said: "I've been pleased with our defensive game over the last few weeks and it will need to be on song once more against a strong Whitehaven team on Sunday.

"Whitehaven have had a great season so far and have some good players in their squad who are capable of hurting sides.

"Whitehaven are the only Cumbrian based club to beat us this season so we know we've got a game on our hands.

"It should be a great contest and I hope the Doncaster public turn out in numbers and support the boys."

Whitehaven coach Dave Woods could name an unchanged side from the team that beat Dewsbury last week. Sixth-placed ‘Haven are in pole position to land a play-off place and are currently six points clear of Doncaster.

Woods said: "We're happy with where we are - others have to catch us now. It's all in our hands.

"We've got to make sure we don't lose, and if we don't lose then we can't get caught."

On Doncaster, he added: "They're going really well. We know they're a tough side, and we need to be smart and play well to get a result."

I agree it's a bit of a blow at this stage of the campaign and Sando is a key player but...... no player, whoever he is, wins games alone.

It takes the whole 17 to get a win and if the lads stick to the basics and do it well then there is no reason why we can't take the points..............I bl**dy hope!!!!

The Sando issue is puzzling at this stage of the season.

gonna be a tough game for us tomorrow (haven) the saints players weve been using have either been called up to the first team (swift walker greenwood clough) or injured (hand) so no saints players jessie joe parkers just returned home for family reasons so as i believe it were down to the bare bones tomorrow dont think weve 17 fit players so might be a couple carrying knocks can only see a donny win tomorrow but hopefully we can pull something off

Stu is a teacher at the college like myself, we can only take holidays outside of term time, so these weeks are the only time we get to jump off on our hols.

If there is any truth to this and I am not in a position to doubt the posters comments, then given our lack of DR for this match, it should be a true game between two evenly matched teams. I for one am pleased that Leafy gets a run out even if he would never get in the Wildcats first team he will do for me. Sanderson will be missed but IMO every working bloke deserves a holday and if it means us missing out good luck to him.

Shaun , has been added to squad , doesn't automatically mean he will get a spot in 17.
I think he will but you never know.Scott , Fawcett , C Hughes or Robinson who was 18 th man may come into contention. Interesting dilemma for Tony.

Tend to agree with the backs ... Spurr won't be out of place back in the centres along with Waterman and I'd also opt to switch Dawson to wing rather than throwing Scott in.

If fit, I'd like to see Carl Hughes in the 17.
