I think the decision to let Beswick go was the right one, not just on this performance but he's a very average player IMO.

He's looked poor every time I've watched him play this season, gone backwards since he left us imo.. Must be that infamous 'fax social life that's been the team's undoing...

Great refereeing. Lots of opportunities to go the video referee but he didn't need to so didn't put anyone through it. Thats the way to do it.

After watching that tonight, should we beat Featherstone I'm confident we'll be in the final. Halifax are on the slide.

On the Beswick thing I think it was the right decision to let him go but I still think he has quality and in a controversial post would also have him back at Widnes.

For less money than he was on, I still think we have struggled at times to settle on a loose forward with Patterson, Duffy, Morrison and Fletcher all having played there.

I think Cull could get the best from him again or alternatively we could spell him with Smith at Hooker.

All conjecture as he is going to be at Fax next year but he doesn't look high on confidence there.

Still think we should concentrate on tomorrow night's game but of the two sides I would have preferred to have had to face Fax next should we get past Fev.

If we do get past them tomoz then the draws have certainly gone our way.

The point is we chaulk up another point and regain the ball to soften them up a little more, while demoralizing them further as we tear into them

They won by a scoreline greater than 1, so it doesn't follow that it had to be a good tactic. If they had a player take someones head off and get sent off at that stage in the game and yet they still won, would that also be a good tactic?

They had the ball, they had possession, it was early in the game, you don't go for a drop goal. You keep the pressure on the line and make them work.

We all know how that worked out don't we?

I tought it was a good tactic , as the great AJM used to say , dont come away from the oppositions end with nothing .Keeps the score board ticking over .

I think its a negative tactic myself, unless you are within the advantage margin of a drop goal. It shows you're scrambling for what you can get. Keep them down there.

The DG breaks hearts , its only one point but as in tonights case it breaks the hearts and minds of some players . Some jog back to the half way thinking daft sods dropping a goal , others trapise back thinking now we have to score 3 times to get back in it . It does weired things to the mindset, trust me Chris , having dropped enough to see opposition wilt and having it done and seeing team mates wilt . Last week Havens drop did nothing to effect the game , it left Us with enough time to resond as we were only 1 behind .
It's a very strange thing the DG at different times for different reasons.

I also believe its a bit negative. You can almost sense the tension when you go for 1 or even sometimes when you take the 2. How many times do you see a team take the 2, only to then make a mistake on the restart and the opposition score. There has been loads of occasions when we end up making the wrong decsion on whether to go for 2 or try for a try. Featherstone away was a prime example. We kept plugging away at their line and ignoring around 3 or 4 easy penalties. I don't think we scored any tries from ignoring the penalties and we ended up losing the game. Loads of times its worked against us the other way though, where we take the 2 and end up conceeding a try soon after. IMO you should keep going for the try as the worst that can happen is you end up turning the ball over deep in their half. The only time I like to see us kick points is when its the different between the opposition needing and extra try i.e. when you're 6 or 12 up.

Whitehaven could well have won the game with their one pointer, however, all it did was give us the chance to recover possession and score ourselves. I think at the end of the day, its all swings and roundabouts, no-one knows how the game will pan out so, no use arguing the point after the event.

Going for the try shows more confidence and a willingness to kill a game off though.

I'm not bothered really, we'd have to beat both anyway to win it and plus we need to beat Fev first.

Barrow looked awesome but are beatable, with no sub half get at Ellis all game and you could be on to something!

Dave Allen was superb, what a waste of 2 years! Rooney and Coyle slotted in nicely together! The way Dave Clark has got that team to gel is simply fantastic tbh! Harrison proving to be a real top centre I mean he’s a bulldozer but also worked on his quick passing a lot and gives his winger tries for fun as well!
