To be honest, I wouldn't disagree with any of your 'outs' apart from Gannon. I was never a Gannon fan last year, but this year, IMO he has shown that if he has other decent forwards around him he can be a force to be reckoned with. The problem last year and half of this year is that he has been pretty much left to carry the whole pack by himself with little support.

IMO the squad would probably need further 'outs' than what you've said, at the end of the day out of the 9 players you suggest should leave, only Toa and Gannon have been regular starters. The fact we've so up and down this year, maybe we need to look more closely at the players who are actually playing week in, week out? Also do you think by releasing those 9 and bringing in those 7 we'd still be under the salary cap? I think both Ostick and Strong are u21 so don't count and Mills and Robinson have been on loan so their wages would have not been on our cap either. You think Toa, Gannon, Duffy, Patto and Hartley add up to the same wages as Youngquest, Yere, Branighan etc etc?

To be honest, I couldn't believe it earlier in the season when we basically had no props and it was announced we were up to the salary cap limit. There must be some massive earners at the club and it makes you wonder if they are actually worth it. Might it be better to get rid of the top earners to spread the talent a bit better? I wonder what % of the cap Webbo and Smith take up between them? Many used to rate Smithy as the best no9 outside SL and with Webbo is probably are highest earner - with players like Peckywicz, Henderson, Ellis, Beswick, Gleeson - is Smithy really worth that much? Same goes for Webbo - good player, but is he worth the money?

I know we probably don't want to make wholesale changes again, but I think its 50/50 as to whether we just need small improvements or whether we need more drastic measures - might all depend on how the players goes between now and the end of the season.

The 2 centres at Sheffield, Roparti or Yere, both good players.

I'd keep Gannon and i'd also keep Duffy as the 2nd hooker...

We definately need 2 good centres so i hope they go all out to get Goddard and Yere on board. (if possible)

if its true cullen is offering reduced terms i wouldn't be surprised.You lot have already ticked one of the major boxes,ie winning the nrc , i wonder if you will now concentrate on other aspects of the sl application and build for the future ie 3 years time and not worry so much about next years team. only a thought but you never know.

Widnes did the same last year to Noone and Beswick and brought in the likes of Webster. The club are not going to offer increased terms to players who havent reached the heights expected.

Plenty of changes at Widnes for next year and they will be for the better, a couple of current super league players will be signed.

I think there will be changes at the club at all levels. Cost savings will come to the fore as we already have the box ticked to enable us to apply.

There are bound to be losers in it all and it will be seen as turmoil by others but I'm sure SOC will have his business head on now that the target has been hit this season. Why spend more money when you have attained the goal that you set out for?

I'd like to see us try to win everything over the next couple of seasons but IMO decisions, and tough ones at that will be made or have already been made not only at the club but at the RFL.

We still need to ensure that we are more than competitive next year. Hopefully we make at least a semi this year but I would like to see us be challenging next.

We've done the hard part but now we need to make sure there are no excuses. Playing strength could be one of them if we were to say finish 5th for the next couple of years.

I'm hoping we're asking for reduced contracts because we have a couple of big name players signed up and we need the space on the cap.

We should look at Bostock from Dewsbury, big strong second rower and crossed for 20 odd tries from second row this year. He can also play centre to decent affect.

Before the season started we all hoped the squad would be strong enough but there were blatent weaknesses that were made all the more obvious when it was announced we were at the salary cap limit. I think it became obvious that we had a small number of stars on a lot of money and not much thought to the overal balance of the squad.

If the balance of the squad is rectified for next year then I'm sure we'll be all the better for it. As others have said, the box has been ticked, so there less pressure for us to be held to ransom over wages or getting certain players. Surely the aim is get players in who want to play for the club and not just here for the money. The fact we're odds on for a franchise might be a big attraction for a lot players.

No point wasting money and can see some of the higher earners going. Hope Widnes do go up to SL as you have been shafted a number of times by the RFL. I have not seen too many games but the likes of Webster and TKL must be on good money getting on, plus not British Born and have not been that good to be fair going. On the other hand players like Thackray that are young and British and half decent staying.
