| Tbh I think Cas probably should have won the award, but the fall out from their fans (and many others) over the past 15-16 hours has made me very glad they didn't. Ha Ha Superb. Fact remains, Cas like Widnes, got in the top 8, and didn't win anything! Both had very good seasons

| Widnes attendances have taken a drop this year - 5,635 from 6,015 last year.
Tigers, Hull KR and Saints have all increased.
Hardly the making of a progressive club. I'm very surprised you got club of the year.

The reaction from Cas fans has been more angry because the 'fans' of the Widnes club ruined the after-match celebrations at LSV. I'm sure that fans of other clubs that had not been a semi final winner for such a long time would feel the same.

HaHa FFS, ruined their celebrations! Surely the fact Castleford fans didn't run on to engage Widnes supporters meant their celebrations weren't affected at all? Cry me a river.

And if we are playing that game, I recall being stood in the WRE about 2002 swapping ends, being subjected to all manner of verbal abuse, coins raining down, you scouse this, you scouse that! needless to say in time, fighting broke out. I have not once been to the Cas and Wakey and not seen any kind of incident, so lets not brush your own under the carpet. Tbh I don't lose any sleep over it. Well I go to every Wakefield game, and I don't often see trouble, but if you do, I guess we've found the common denominator.
Stay at home next time. Both sides will have a better experience.

I am expressing my opinion and the reason for the reaction to the Widnes club being awarded Club of the Year (THIS YEAR). I fully accept that all clubs, including Cas and Widnes) have been guilty of indiscretions in the past, but perhaps on these occasions the club(s) were not given awards.
It is only you that is talking about seasons past, but my point is still valid and the truth remains that the Widnes club in my opinion and that of quite a few others, should not have been given this year's award, as they have not progressed as far as Cas (this year) and your so called fans have brought the name of the club into disrepute by their actions at LSV.

| Cas admitted having to sell players to stave off administration and won't s fecking award for it?
If you're really annoyed about this after the season you've just had you need to start enjoying your rugby more!

| I must say I got sidetracked there. I neglected to say congratulations to Widnes.
I was critical of the fans at the semi and some other places but the club seem to be working hard on that, and when you see how far they have come it is a club worthy of the award.
Initially I thought Cas would get it, and they would be deserving too, but I have heard a lot of praise aimed at the set up of the club at Widnes and clearly that has made the difference rather than just on field success.

Again, someone talking about last year, not this one.
I didn't say that I'm annoyed about it. I will repeat that in my opinion the award is not deserved by the Widnes club more than any other club for this year, for reasons I have stated earlier in the thread.

And Sarge, if we want to be pedantic, then from a Widnes/Cas POV, then the events of the Semi Final were last year (if by year you mean season)
I dont want to get embroiled in a daft tiff. As both clubs have done really well, and we should celebrate that with equal measure. As it has been a huge stride in the right direction, Cas probably should have the award IMO, but it is hardly as if the Tigers went without recognition. Be interesting to see how both respective clubs turn out next season. Throw Salford in that mix too

| Think everyone has said they thought Cas would win it but jeez talk about wanting to be indulged! You've got the deserves your season has merited on the field.
As for off field I wouldn't have a clue and that is te basis of an award that let's face it is a token gesture really.
The past years obviously come in to it as it's about improvement and showing something as a CLUB. Don't be surprised that the club labelled the "success of the licensing system" has won this award in licensing's final year... It gives the RFL a pat on the back too!

| Can not for the life of me understand how Castleford did not receive this award. Had the chance to finish top of the pile had they won their last fixture and finishing 4th was a fantastic achievement. This coupled with a cup final appearance surely should have made them nailed on!!???
Do not understand what criteria the RFL can possibly follow to not give it to Cas....

| I can not understand people having a go at the Widnes fans, as not our fault. I thought Castleford would have won it, but do we all know the full criteria. Widnes have only been in Superleague 3 yrs and Castleford have been in for years to build. Castleford finances we do not know, and if did not go Wembley, it be interesting their postion on players for next year. They have already lost some quality players for 2015.

| My biggest gripe with with winning this award if the lack of home grown players Widnes produce.
Off the top of my head Widnes only have two players that have come thru the Widnes system and I'm told the only other Widnes lads playing super league is mark Percival and Richie Myler.
Why are Widnes club and the town on a whole not producing any rugby league players ?

All the below have come through the Academy system and are members of the first team squad, we have also only been back in Super League the last 3 years. Its getting better but will need time, Saints and Wigan have had prolonged periods at the top of the sport and extra funding to put into youth systems as have the other Super League clubs.

I mean players that are actually playing in super league.
Why ain't Widnes signing the best young Widnes lads available at this time? They seem to be joining other clubs.
I watch a lot of amateur rugby and know saints, Wigan and Warrington scouts who are out every Sunday watching the u13s/14s/15s and 16s but where are Widnes scouts? Do they have scouts?

Of course we have scouts, we look both local and wider, a lot signed recently www.widnesvikings.co.uk/news/art ... sters-onto
More local lads will filter into the team the longer we continue in Super League, your post comes across as a little ignorant to the difficulties the club has been through the last 10 years. Another reason why other 'Widnes' lads might choose to sign for another local club is money, we don't have the funding available like the clubs you mentioned.

Listen pal. I'm not ignorant but I was in a meeting with Widnes regarding this 3 weeks ago and they basically told me they haven't done enough in local youth development and admitted they need to do better.
I must admit I was pretty alarmed at the stuff they was saying regarding youth but I'm not going to into all the details as the meeting was exclusive.
I'm not a Widnes lad but I'm told that the playing fields in Widnes are now all football pitches

First of all I'm not your pal, secondly your wrong not all the pitches in Widnes are now football pitches, and lastly after your 'exclusive' meeting you decide to post on this forum which is about as active as a nuns sex life.
