| You lot are easily nailed on for a place in the big time, but after your last 2 seasons performances on the pitch, you are hardly shaping up for the big time!
Early on this year we(salford easily beat you in a friendly,34-0 think it was)on the way out of your ground several local numptys told a group of us that we need to do a lot better than that or we will get hammered every game!!
Now we do have nothing to bragg about on what we have done over the last 2 years, but we have been sensible as a club and buisness money wise and next year are going for a big finish in our last year at the willows!and the signings we have made so far should easily reach the playoffs.
How do you feel you will be even half ready for super league when you cant even make the top 4?I know things have been very hard regarding Paul Cullens situation, but unless you can improve on the pitch big style in the coming season with your recruitment of players(b.t.w ste tyrer will never ever be good enough for super league!)and results etc you are seriously looking at the wooded spoon with even a big zero in the points collum against your name?
answers please and all the best

| Yes & thanks for your concern
Ps I hope the willows has at least improved disabled facilities for next season as some of your players may find it hard getting up and down those steps at their age!

| First of all many thanks for the post Mr Numpty.
Widnes won the NRC in 2009 and thus ticked that magical box to apply for the big time, performances on the pitch have been hampered by a real bad run of injuries and some tragic events for Paul Cullen. Should we have done better on the pitch over the last 2 years? probably yes i dont think many Widnes fans will disagree.
Okay now moving on to this franchise stuff, we are still the best supported club outside SL thats a fact. We have the best sponsorship outside the top flight and have an all seater stadium and made a whopping profit last year. We tick all them lovely boxes. Cushty!
So do we deserve a license under the current criteria. YES
And your comment regards players, were still the championship so wont be signing Darren Lockyer etc just yet.
Will we prosper in SL? of course we will but will also realise we'll get some hefty pastings early doors.
Anyways enough of all that, Salford have been crap for years in SL, you dont offer that comp anything except your from Manchester. Your crowds are garbage and the only reason your still functioning is because of Wilko. If we need lessons of any SL club it certainly wont be Salfud.

| Oh and how could i forget our under 16's and 18's are the best in the country and have kicked Salfuds ass numerous times last year.
I think you need to reverse your querstion and ask are you worthy of Super League?

To be honest it is on a level playing field in the Championship with £300,000 to spend only.If we had £1.3 million it be a different team so your theory is .Ste o connor will buy a few top aussies and some talent from the UK.It is obvious the best players will want to play Superleague and not Championship. We will be ok as some of our U18S will be good enough in the next few years. By the way we are assembling a new squad for 2011 as some players we bought are not good enough. It is about coaching, injuries and getting the right players. So jog on Numpty

| I decided against a full answer as like OFFTHECUFF has pointed out he was in clear ignorance of the cap.
Quick question though as Salford will easily make the playoff's in your mind would you tell me how many players from your last NL1 side will actually be in that lineup... one, two at a push?

Of course they are the prime example of the perfect franchise if you listen to some, I mean still no stadium and they are spending big in the final of the 3 years bringing in loads of Aussies in the latter parts of their careers to replace young british kids... that's what we are after yes?

Ok so that's Adamson who is a Salford product that will actually play and Broughton as well... so that's two
What Finnigan who was your top try scorer and then left for Bradford? Ok then, bar Patten which is a great signing your whole squad is the definition of cast off's!
Where is Feka playing by the way... oh yea Wigan reserves

| Widnes vikings were turned down a license last time because of insolvency problems!!people in the rugby league world may knock sir john wilkinson!but he has done a dam fine better job at running a profesional rugby league club than a lot of so called bigger clubs out there!!!!We were rightly awarded a license ahead of yourselves last time and so were the crusaders, and deep down in side you all know it!....this time yes you are worthy of your chance, but getting back to my main point,is that you have not even been 2nd or 3rd best on the pitch over the last couple of years in the championship and how are you going to improve on this ?

No-one having a pop at him as clearly a great man for your club, think the point was just money outside of that which is a problem for all clubs and yours was really struggling until someone stepped in for stadium and fair play.
Your final question has been answered already... an extra £1,500,000 cap to spend from (we'll have that money unlike some too) and as I said how many of your championship WINNING side are still there?

If you honestly think we're going to take a Championship team on a budget of £300,000 into Super League, then you need your head examined.

| Troll alert, Troll alert.
How's Salfords Stadium coming along then ? Actually started any building work yet ? And clearing the ground of a few weeds doesn't count as building work.
You are plain scared, because when we come up, we will be more successful than your Club ( mind you that wouldn't be hard )...........

| There's nothing funnier than a Salford fan pontificating about the licencing system....
This from a club that threatned that if they were not awarded a licence then their landmark RL purpose built stadium would not be built. That had the audacity to pour scorn over those clubs that had enlisted the help of their local councils to build their grounds. That had their main development company go bust days after the announcement.
Salford are building a decent looking side for next year and are spending some 'serious' money. The fact remains that Salford Council and Peel Holdings have yet to spend any real money on the ground. All the land clearance work has been carried out using money obtained from the North West Development Agency has it not? Also whilst most other councils up and down the country are being asked to reign in spending and cut expenses including some of the most affluent areas, we are expected to believe that Salford Council are set to build a stadium and spend somewhere in the region of £16 - 20 million pounds.
Maybe it will.. Maybe Salford Council will buck the trend... Maybe they are trying to play their way out of being removed from SL.

We also won the NR cup, hence our eligibility to apply for a license. So you point is?
