Have to say feka maybe a great signing for you guys depending on his shape! At Wigan pre Mcguire days he was large shall we say but the damage he did in the 30 mins he would play was massive taking at least three men in every tackle and how many times did he rumble over from the 20! However maguire got him to slim up and unfortunately the mass he lost took away his power and force! Would love to see him at his best knocking players on there backsides in super league again

Hardly a hunch. For every Ryan McGoldrick there's a Ben Galea, for every Martin Aspinwall a Chris Thorman. That aside, the very idea that the negative opinions of a few message board posters is likely to have any effect on the chances of a signing being successful or not is, in itself, absurd. By your reckoning, if the reaction had been overwhelmingly positive, that would decrease the chances of him being successful.



The two positions are not mutually exclusive. I am against the signing - I think it's a poor one. That doesn't mean I don't accept the possibility that he will surprise a few people and recapture his best form. I just that I think the odds are against it. You could put me in the 85/15 camp, rather than the 50/50 one.

Personally I'd have much preferred us having Michael Weyman as our starting prop with Paea.

You lay it on too thick and its counter productive. Spin is inevitable, but it can be done less glaringly. We've got the Ben Cockayne announcement to look forward to, of course, where I suspect more prominence will be given to his ETS call-up rather than the string of off field incidents that led to his departure in the first place, so I'm not throwing stones.

He could be brilliant, he could be washed-up (IP, not Smailes), it's a gamble, but all signings are. The fact it is 2 years makes it a bigger gamble, but it suggests a confidence that he has still got it - whether that is well placed, we'll see.

Your signings smack of on and off field issues , though most of you are too blind to see it.

If you would take Feka and Paea over Costigan and Weyman , then fair enough that's your opinion.

I'm not particularly defending the use of spin or even the level used by the club, just pointing out the sad inevitability of it. I long since passed the point where spin of any sort affected me one way or the other TBH.


The Smailes bit was just to indicate that not all the reports had come from the FC camp rather than to indicate a belief that Smailes is particularly expert at judging the fitness of ageing RL players.

I still have no problem with his signing.

Weyman may possibly have not been affordable but he'll be very good for the Dobbins if keeping injury free.

Same here , Masoe would have been a better signing . Hope we get somewhere the Bang crash wallop Feka or this signing could really bite the club on it's backside.

It's a different approach by Hkr but will hopefully pay off, their losing a bit of height and a offload in the front row though.

Costigan is past it. A bland player that will make no impact in attack but will make many tackles. Hull have the best defensive record in SL and definitely have no need of more players like him. He is the the one I'd like least at Hull FC.

Weyman is a great prop, as is Paea. Neither spend long enough on the field, and both can bend the line. I'd like both at Hull FC.

Feka is great for 10 mins if he's overweight. He's a low impact forward when fit - but our pack is so small, he'll probably do a job for us.

I'll refer you to an earlier post I made to you which included the word 'flying'. And although the original post was said slightly tongue in cheek - a concept that I feel you might at times struggle with - it's just a feeling I get based on the posters and what has gone before.



I think you've already shifted 15 points from the 'scraping the bottom of the barrel' position. But I doubt you care what I think in the same way I don't care what you think.
