| Quote ="Kosh"Looking at an objective reality - the survey and how it was carried out - from a subjective position isn't logical. The [iresult[/i will rightly be assessed on an absolutely subjective basis.
If you sent out X number of survey forms, and you had two thirds back in a week advocating Sunday matches, why would it be logical to wait for the remaining third to arrive before announcing the result?'"
I find it impossible to believe there was an overwhelming vote in favour of Sundays.
I would like to know how many people were eligible to take part in the survey, how many did take part and what were the results. It would surely be sensible to await the closing date of the survey before announcing any decisions.
If AP wants to go back to sunday rugby thats up to him, but he shouln't pretend that the fans' views matter.

| Quote ="Kosh"Two different issues there.
1. Making a decision before the survey closes is not inherently illogical if you have more responses back in favour of Sundays than outstanding responses. The remaining responses cannot possibly change the result so waiting until they are in makes no difference.
2. The original plan appears to have been to canvas existing pass holders via the renewal forms. This would have given the most representative result. The downside is that you either have to delay the decision until the 2013 season or change things after people have bought passes. Clearly the club decided that they wanted to avoid that. The next best thing is what we had - send out surveys to a known group of FC fans who are likely to fill them in and return them in good time. It's not ideal but better than anything we've had before.'"
They saved money not sending us the invites to the BBQ this year, considering the gates are low I think they could have afforded to send it out to pass-holders tbh.The grapevine is not exclusive to FC fans, I know a couple of dobbins who get it!

I would have preferred Pearson to come out and say he'd decided to change things and move BACK to Sundays as a result of slipping attendances on Fridays rather than include it in the survey at all. ATEOTD Pearson bought the club and therefore decides when we play our fixtures (subject to SKY requirements). It may be that the surveys have come out generally in favour of Sundays which is helpful to him, but he has made a decision to move to Sundays based on his own business case which is his prerogative I guess.

Good post. If its his decision let him come out and say so rather than pretending its the fans' choice.

Local amateur moves to summer rugby as well, 11.30 KO, teams travelling away may have an impact on attendances.

I doubt there's many that can't get to either. 6 on a Thursday is more advantageous to me.

What you believe is up to you. Personally I don't find it so surprising that fans of a sport that tends to like its traditions would vote for the traditional game day, but there you go. Second guessing the British public is generally a fools game.
I've no idea if we'll get details of the survey or not - my guess would be that it will depend largely on the response to the change. It would only be sensible to wait until the closing date of the survey if the outstanding responses would make a significant difference to the result.
How do you know that he's pretending?

| Wilf was encouraging Hull fans to sign up to the Grapevine in his Diary yesterday in order to have their views considered. How many people read the Diary every week? 500? Hulls decision to pull the plug on the survey didnt give these guys long to get their views considered.
Another 500 peoples views could potentially have changed the result considerably.

I think we have something in the region of 300 regular members on here. Could be a bit more. How much of an effect those extra responses would have will depend on how many were already in and how homogeneous the responses would be in one direction or the other.

| My grapevine emails dried up a long time ago and although I re registered I never received another email. However my son does via my email account even though he has NEVER signed up to the grapevine service, in fact the only place I have ever put an email contact against his name was on the Season Ticket application form!
Maybe anybody who put an email address in this form has received the survey email?!?!?

Unlikely, if things were trending to (for example) a 60/40 split in favour of Sundays with a signifigant number of respondents, then the aditional 500 you've quoted would be likely to follow the same pattern.

I think at one point they automatically put all pass holders who gave an email address onto the Grapevine database. Like you my Grapevine emails dried up at one point but they started again when I became a pass holder for a season before the move to Fridays.
It's clearly a bit hit-and-miss though.

| Two things will get the fans in.
SUCCESS AND MARKETING.
Hulls highest average was in 2007 after lifting the challenge cup in 2005 and getting to the GF in 2006. That got the crowds in. Added to that was two big crowds against Hull KR which no doubt helped.
Hull need a top quality coach to bring success and the crowds back.
I think Hull could do a lot better on the marketing side of things. They have a large fan base who don't attend all the games (similar to ourselves) but for individual games they will come.
We have had 3 'big one' games which resulted in a 20k crowd against Leeds, 22k against wire and 19k against Hudds. Maybe Hull should be doing something similar. We also have a game each year where we sell tickets in bulk to local businesses, this resulted in a 19k crowd for quins at home and we will no doubt see a similar crowd for our last game against Crusaders, especially if we are to lift the shield.
Maybe changing the day of the games might make plans more conveniant for away fans and a few home fans, but the crowds will not change unless the club brings success or market itself in a good way.
Clubs like Quins, Salford, Wakey etc. simply need more fans, Hull have plenty, the battle is getting them down to the stadium. I still don't think changing the day will have a huge effect unless they spend some money or get some more success.
