I think we as fans shared AP's over-confidence that we would sign Chase, it appears the deal has hit the buffers,and now we're back to the 'old chestnut'- missing a top drawer 7.

For mine Chase would've been the final piece in the jigsaw.

My interpretation was - and still is - that we intended to sign two new half backs and we had a shortlist of 4 targets. Holdsworth was one of them. Chase another. No idea who the other two are, but I'm not going to make up a list of names out of thin air and then declare myself disappointed if we don't sign them.

It's a 3-4 year plan to get us to the top. We've done better than expected in year 1 already. The market isn't burgeoning with top quality halves and if Chase doesn't happen it's not for the want of trying. Time for some to get a grip and realise what Pearson has done for the club already instead of carping about the intricacies of recruitment. Things wont always go entirely to plan and some need to learn to live with that. The club is going forward and improving.

Don't disagree at all. But some of AP's quotes are naive, when he says things like 'we all know who the top 6's & 7's are and we will sign two of them' is it any wonder people expect the Dureau, Brough, Chase and Dobsons of this world?

I've said it previously, but Ellis has and does play at a level far greater than Manu ever has.

Ok theoretically lets say we don't sign Chase but we will of allocated £xxxx (silly money) as his monthly/yearly wages... Where is that going if we stick with Seymour.

AP has promised greatness and I expect he will deliver, I'm not happy saying oh well at least we were in for him and we are better than expected etc.

I'm over the moon with AP, PG etc, I'm happy with the visions and direction of the club, I'm happy with the signings so far, but I as a fan, someone with my own opinions and if I am not happy about something I have every right to write it on this forum, just the same as everyone else including the "AP and PG can not do anything wrong" squad!

In case anyone forgets, we now have TWO quality half-backs. Holdsworth and McGoldrick. Before, we had Horne (Who is never in a million years a halfback) and Seymour who really is out of his depth. We also have Heremaia who has put in some good stints in that position too, Throw Westy in plus Nicklas as a backup and we're actually quite well off for cover!

We can afford a young, green NRL junior as a project, surely, or is everyone still captivated by Dureau, Brough and Chase who will not be at FC for the forseeable?

As Mrs B has stated, Wigan have Green and Matty Smith as halfbacks next year. Hardly a fookin' dream-team pairing, is it!

As good as McGoldrick has been, I don't like the idea of him being a first choice in our halves next year.

Great player, I like him a lot but don't expect he'll be first choice in any position next year. (Not at FC anyway)

I hope we keep him, he would give great strength in depth along with Horne, Seymour, Whiting, Pitts, Green, Galea, Lineham, Crooks and Hopefully Aspinwall,

I'm really pleased with the signings so far and trust Gentle and AP to deliver some more. Gutted that Chase deals seems dead but the whole recruitment issues were never going to be fixed in one season. We are a million percent better off than this time last year so we should be happy.

If as expected Johnson, Mcdonell signs and Seymour stays. I think we have a squad capable of finishing in the top 4 (to be honest we weren't far off last year).

28 man squad, would expect one more signing (another young halfback?)

Too many Forwards in my opinion , too light in Centres and FB unless we sign a class FB

At centre we have the three mentioned plus whiting and horne who could play there to a good standard.

2 good FB's and young back up player, looks Ok to me.

Halfback is still our major weakness, that combo really lacks pace.

I would defo 'lose' 1 forward and gain a Centre
