I'd play Heremaia and Holdsworth and ask them to fight for their places in the halves because they have been ordinary so far in the warm-ups. We need more from them. Or, better still, put Heremaia on the bench to support Cunningham and play Nicklas with Seymour.

If Gentle changes his plan for the York game on the back of yesterday then I'd be surprised.
If it does happen to be Holdsworth & Seymour in the halves then I'd expect them both to do well, they'll be expected to carry out the same drills and set moves, they should both know what they have to do.

Yep, played in a dinner suit. Took the game by these scruff of the neck and asked questions of our defence constantly. Him and Burns will be better than any of our possible combinations IMO.

For me yesterday was just another inept performance to go with all the others weve served up over the last five years or so but for me i find it even more annoying than previous ones because of the so called new dawn were supposedly about to experience.

Weve had Pearson saying he wont accept mediocre anymore, Gentle saying were fitter, bigger, stronger than ever and look how far weve come and the club massively hyping up signings like Ellis, Holdsworth and Galea then we go serve up a performance that to all intensive purposes could of been right out of Agars coaching handbook. This at a time when many a floating fan will be looking in and wanting to support the club but having reservations on whether to spend their hard earned with the fear that theyre gonna go watch more of the last few years rubbish which many simply wont stomach.

Yesterday was the last chance for the club to show it means business on the field before the opener against Leeds and it failed to impress in a big way imo and now only a big result against Leeds away is gonna get the armchair supporters out of their comfy seats and the chance of that is slim going on yesterday and previous visits to Headingly.

Crookes and Arundel have got points to prove, I would say, but their defence isn't that bad - at least looking at tackle figures which I accept do not show the full story

Crookes made 40 tackles in 2012 and missed 9, Arundel made 67 and missed 5. Compare that to Caro who made 44 tackles and missed 15, and Welham who made 275 and missed 45.

I said this to someone at the game yesterday. Although you tire more, you don't get injured as much when defending.

As usual our control of the speed of the PTB was terrible far too often Rovers were allowed to get quick PTBs and letting their forwards get on their front compared to us where was only Lineham who offered any kind of speed and urgency when playing the ball.

Wasn't a big fan of how much Houghton and Heremaia were moving laterally when jumping out of acting half, it seemed as though yesterday we just didn't want to go down the middle and was far too obsessed with spreading the ball quickly which looked good but with little effect.

and I would chose the Rovers pair over the FC duo!

the positives from yesterday were few but thought Seymore had a cracking game and looked fittest he has been at FC, seemed to have lost some weight too,
Green was VERY agressive and looks a future international to me, came on and got the forwards fired up ..
DH was his usual self
Ellis was class IMO and was everywhere , we just gotta learn to support him now.
Mac will be better for that run out against his old club and looked ok .

sorry again but Horne would be ten yards faster if he took off all that padding, looked like the last three seasons again,
Omeley is a trundler now and i cant see many barnstorming runs coming from his legs this year, he was blowing like the flying scotsman after 10 mins on pitch!!
and even lynch looked tired before he got going IMO

Agree , more or less. I wasn't annoyed , just disappointed because I wanted , as I'm sure AP did , this to be a platform for more pass sales , positivity and just to see the green shoots of entertaining rugby. I don't think the club hyped up Galea and didn't go overboard about Holdsworth either but generally I would think far from being an extreme and negative view , it's probably what's going through PG and AP's minds. PG almost said as much and accepts that it wasn't good enough.

In all fairness, we need to wait for Holdsworth to settle into the team and hopefully form a partnership with Seymour. We also need to wait for the other new faces to really gel with the rest of the squad and adapt to our style of play.

I'd say the majority of the problems we've seen in the past two games are teething problems rather than actual problems, too many dropped balls and mistimed passes meant we didn't get anywhere against Rovers. I'd give the new signings a few games before really passing judgement.

i agree ,we was going to leeds but after sunday we will save our cash and watch on sky thats 5 not going next week now.the team and management need to walk the walk not talk the talk had enough of that with the last lot .....

It's unbelievable that a club who's fans believe it should be challenging for the top 4, or 6 at worst, don't even know who their starting halves will be less than two weeks before the first game of the season
