I must have seen a different game. There were two sides on display tonight that were much closer in terms of quality than England are to either Australia or NZ. We'll beat Wales, but I don't think we'll win another game unless there's a massive improvement.

Some good signs, still work to do but looking at the personel we have a genuinely good side with some world class players in there. If we can gel we might be able to hold our own.

Just because it's in the northern hemisphere. Next time round when it's held down under the fourth team will be PNG (or perhaps Samoa or Tonga if they do a qualification tournament).

Wether its true or not i cant say but a close friend of mine was at a function in liverpool last night at the same Hotel the Aussies are staying and in passing one of the players (stalking more like) got into a chat and he asked the score on the 4 nations and was told the only team the aussies are bothered about in this are England!!

The Aussies and Kiwis have a lot of injuries and I think if our combinations can gel we have a better chance than previous years. I still think Aus will win it though.

Why the hell Widdop didn't start in the halves with Chase i have no idea. Sorry Sinfield but YOU ARE NOT GOOD ENOUGH FOR ENGLAND.

No need to shout. Sinfield provides somebody dependable who the team can be structured around (whether at 6 or 13). All our recent other halfback options have tended to act like headless chickens at international level, and all semblence of structure goes out the window.

FWIW I'd use Widdopp at 6, but the above is probably McNamara's rationale for Sinfield at 6.

Why do all the Leeds fans feel the need to defend Sinfield? He's great for Leeds and has suited their system but he can't play 13 in international rl.

The rest of our pack isn't good enough to carry him and Tomkins is a better 3rd pivot.

Chase isn't a bad kicker, and Roby kicks fairly often for saints. I don't know about Widdop if anyone would like to shed some light?

Widdop doesn't do much kicking at Melbourne, but he can. This is why we should have played Brough imo, brings a more 'overall' game to 7 than anyone else we have.
A 6/7 combination of Widdop and Brough is a lot better than a Chase/Sinfield one, imo.

I suppose i'd agree, althought Brough was poor latter part of the season. People are forgetting that Chase is a 6 and not a 7, large part of Chase's impressive season was to do with partnering Orr.
Shame that Lomax is injured IMO
