Similar to what Rovers did ahead of the 2008 season - we had the advantage of being able to look at slightly younger players in the NRL rather than relying on fed-exempted players already in SL though. Buying a bit of time for the club to develop - it is a short-term fix, but you need to keep fans coming through the turnstyles.

Not true about Tansey. Not according to the opinions of Brian Smith, Braith Anasta and Anthony Minicello (sp) when I was talking to them at the Roosters stadium earlier this year! Nothing but compliments about him. Plenty of good things to say about Fitz and O'Meley too!

I dont see the similarity with the Rovers model of 2008 to be honest. Players such as Briscoe, Fox, Webster, Walker, Dobson, Newton, Crossman, Mills had ages ranging from early to mid 20s on their arrival and were brought in to bring long term stability to the side. 5 of them will be going into their 4th season with us next year and i guess Walker would be if not for injury so it was a strategy that seems to have worked.

The strategy, as i mentioned, was to bring long term stability (as well as continuity) to the side. It is a strategy that in that regard has clearly worked.
Granted we have won nothing, but dont worry Justins on with it.

Justin will win silverware, just not in East Hull.

To be fair its highly unlikely the RFL will bring the Challenge Cup final or Grand Final to Craven Park. Well, not until the North Stand is built anyway.

wheeldon is waiting on afew deals to be on the table...he prefers the bradford route...but would never turn down a move back to fc...a club he wishes he never left.!!!

I'm interested to see how this develops, if we lose three props then we need to sign at least two aswell as strengthening the backs. Lots of names being banded about so I guess we will get some news in the next week.

Cooper, Hargreaves and Prescott if their still ooc wouldn't be a bad option if we miss out on either fielden and/or lms.

Would definitely sign Hargreaves and would look at Prescott maybe too.

Well out of Dowes, Radford and Wheeldon i'd rank Wheeldon 3rd. Guess it depends if he comes at a 3rd of the price that Dowes and Radford would which may make it more of an attractive offer.

cooper agreed a new contract with wire a few weeks back!!i do believe hargreaves is available,and he would be a decent option to replace radders or dowes.

I'd take either Prescott & Hargreaves over Wheeldon anyday.

Signing both of them would probably only cost us what Radford was on.
