Once went to Spiders with a chap I worked with. He wasn't planning to go to a club, but was dressed in trousers and shirt. Anyway, we got to the front of the queue.

I don't think I'm that old but I remember those days, jeez you even had to have your shoes polished too. I remember my mate having a very trendy pair of suede shoes and they refused him entry because they didnt look dressy enough.

Example is opening it, they've also got Wiley, Tinchy Stryder, Alabama 3, Tim Burgess, Ian Mcculloch of Echo and Bunnymen all confirmed and a few others pencilled in.

It will be amazing inside, the only problem is that town is rubbish. I'm sure it will have a busy midweek student night but the crowd you want to attract stay outside of Hull centre.

They also own a few other brands like Digital, Fibbers, Factory etc.

I like the sound of that, I'm sick of having to travel miles to see decent bands and also being ripped off for parking, food and drink. I know it's not NEC but I've still travelled to Manchester, Leeds, Lincoln, Bradford etc etc to watch the likes of said bands.

). Obviously I'm biased, but IMO Spiders is still the best place in the city by an absolute mile. It's run so well that I feel it offers the safest and most fun night out in Hull. Fantastic people, great music and cheap drinks, what more could you want?



Must also say that Welly, Piper, Adelphi, Lamp, Ringside and Asylum have all provided some excellent nights for me over the years, but again Spiders is - and always will be - number one for me.

If that's true then it is a good start, while i'm not a fan of any of the acts listed. Wiley is currently no1 in the singles chart, and Example and Tinchy Strider have had many recent hits too. Much better than the usual Only Way is Essex/Hollyoaks 'stars' that we normally get as VIP guests to our nightclubs.

I think the big challenge is getting the public to come inside and give it a try, they have to look to giving out free entry tickets etc to try and get people to give it a go. And as you have already said, getting the students out of their campus/Newland Ave/Prinny Ave comfort zone could be vital to its sucess.

Good to hear that Tower are having bands on again. It was a great place to play at and see bands .

That's no exagerration, it was a minor criminal and upwards hang out.There was always an uneasy feeling in that very rough, seedy place. Thankfully nothing really bad happened the 2/3 times I was in there , but there was always a feeling that something was about to.
