To get to the main point of this news, and not just descend into the slanging/defending match, good luck to him if he does get a deal at Wakey. It's quite possibly the best place for him and a good move for all parties. He perhaps needs a wake-up call and a change to reignite his career, we don't have a place in the team for him any more, Wakefield need a prop, and John Kear has a good record of giving players with a point to prove another chance and getting the best out of them. If he can at all turn his career back around, it's as good a destination as any to do so.

Hope he gets sorted and continues to play. Best of luck to him just such a shame to see a guy with talent for the game never really achieve his best due to his lifestyle.

I'm more sad that his lack of application has made it necessary for us to release him. Could have been one of the best props of his generation. He seems like a nice guy, so I hope it works out for him, but it was undoubtedly the correct decision to let him go.

I think sentiment may have come into it the last time he was offered a contract and we've got nothing from him to justify it. Correct decision to let him go, i agree. I also agree that its a shame he could have been so good but then wasnt really.

I'm more upset with the loss of Kingy than Lee or Horne. Unlike the others, Kingy had talent and on his day the best prop at the club.

Such a shame to see his talent get poured down a urinal.

I will be watching his performances at Wakey with interest.

Ask Mick Crane, Ian Bell, Rob Roberts, Michael Smith, Andy Bailey and others who lacked the application and maturity to be a great.

Add Leigh Deakin to that list. He was highly rated, but for me was bloody awful.

That's the thing, you don't really need to wonder why, fans need to raise their expectations of players social activities, being smashed in a nightclub on a weekend isn't acceptable during the season, too many players are "good lads" or "nice blokes" to the fan base, until they start to have their attitudes changed by the expectations of the people who pay their wages then we'll see the same wasted of talent year on year, I cannot remember a time when we didn't have an "if only" player at Hull FC.

I hope that the clear out of the bad eggs is being followed up by some tightened discipline but I fear that there may players there now who might well fall into the "if only" category if not managed correctly.

Paul attracted a bit too much attention from the social spying brigade, funny how he was always being spotted and more obvious ones where going un-reported. Nature of the beast I suppose, but for those of us who remember him as a young lad and at the time he gave us hope for the future along with Rich Horne and Paul Cooke.

I wish him all the luck at Wakey and it could be what he needs, we may yet see the KING OF OLD.

The amount of stuff I used to remove from the board was at times silly, no way could anyone man been in as many places, drinking that much alcohol and survive is beyond me. I do think many of the "reports" where at best "stretching the truth" TBH and he is by no means the worst.
