A rumour that hasn't been mentioned from a good while and not one that I actually believe, but a friend doesn't think the Chase deal will happen and still reckons we'll be signing Danny Brough. I don't believe it one bit, but thought I'd share it regardless. Same person who told me this morning that we've signed Galea on a one year deal.

Loved how PG was avoiding the questions regarding Galea. Sounded like we have him to me.

looking like a done deal! Fwiw i think if it's a 12 month deal and the contract isn't high hecould be another inspired signing, model pro and will teach the youngsters a lot, see some of them running similar lines to him in the future!

Can't see giants giving brough captaincy if he's on way out.

One thing for sure - whatever the outcome with Galea there will be an almighty amount of egg on face for someone.

We lose Manu and gain Galea

Its a sad thought, especially having seen Manu play like he did tonight...but then you have to remember that the club made Manu a very good offer for a player of his age. Galea will probably be on a third of the salary offered.

I hear what you are saying but I am still gutted at losing Manu, he is a very special player and I am not convinced even Ellis will offer what he does tbh.

Or alternatively we lose Manu (who doesn't want to play for us anymore) and sign Gareth Elllis. Not in that order, admittedly.

Signing Galea carries a big risk given his age and it's not one to put BOS or get the pulses racing but time will tell if the gamble pays off like Aspinwall and McGoldrick (in the short term) did.

It depends on what slant you want to put on it

I thought O'Meley was again excellent tonight (superb offload in the first half, and knocked over about 3 players to score) and he looks to me like a player who is giving his all because he doesn't have a deal sorted for next year.

Listening to radio blunderside earlier the way them and paul cooke were talking I got the impression tgat fc have said something official on galea have I missed some thing ?
Fwiw if Gentle thinks its a good signing then I will trust his judgment

Galea will be a good signing for a year, runs great lines and has a very good pair of hands.
This years injuries are a concern, but before this season he had a very good record.
At the right price, it could be a very good deal.

They seem to be favouring players who the coaching staff have worked with before: McGoldrick & Galea (Gentle at Wests) Holdsworth (McRae at Salford) Watts & Arundel (Hay at Castleford) and you'd hope that this means we don't get any nasty surprises and players who don't train well. I think its a good policy so long as it doesn't become a 'jobs for the boys' club and we don't miss out on better players just to sign someone the coaches know.

My concerns also, I agree he can be good and has always caused us problems, I hope he has been brought in to mentor the young ones which I think would be good.

I'd like to know why aren't Rovers interested in keeping him? Was he asking for too much?
