Pele may not like it but for this match i would give him two lengthy spells off the bench and use his power to greater effect against tired legs and start Ashworth.

It will be interesting to see if the big bloke can keep up with a fast team like Rovers. If Hull don’t have 70% possessions they will be hammered by 40 again. On the flip side get the possession and it will be more just 20 point defeat. Man for man Rovers have it across the park but the rain and pitch might help the larger chaps stay in the game.

Seen it too many times in derbies that the results are very rarely go as expected or with the favourites.
No one denies Rovers are favourites but so early in a season and the weather etc nothing should be taken for granted.

I too have been to plenty of derbies where the favorites have come unstuck, so although I'm hoping for a Rovers win I'm not going to start crowing about it beforehand.
The heavy pitch and weather might play into your hands who knows, but I can see it been a bit of a slog with a good few errors and penalties too. Plenty of new faces on both teams still need bedding in aswell so im definitely not expecting a classic.

Completely agree. Given a fair few of our players have had issues with injuries I’m not confident, Walker, trueman, Carlos and Hoy just to name a few.

Agreed, big earner. Who has allegedly missed more pre season sessions than anyone baring the ones with long term injuries. Just an absolute waste of money and quota spot. Whoever give him a four year deal when he was already picking injuries up needs to take a look at themselves.

I'll be honest I wasn't feeling that confident to start with but seeing the squad list and seeing a few missing that would likely be in the 17 is making it even harder to be optimistic about Thursday. Do wonder though as much as I like Carlos and he's been a good servant is he now an expensive cost being a quota player with serious question marks on his durability?

Scott naturally comes in for Carlos which is an easy one along with Martin for Tindal, think Gardiner and Jebson will miss out along with one of Litten or Staveley, of which the other will be 18th man.

Taylors 5 year deal, Carlos' 4 year deal, Houghton activating his own extension, lanes 3 year deal, shauls 3 year deal...been some shockers in recent time. Nothing can ever beat the announcement of Agars contract extension with us on April fools day though

Lane is another one which has been a huge mistake, rewarding mediocrity, he showed promise at first but I wouldn’t ever say he was exceptional to warrant a 3 year deal.

Moving back on topic. Still think we can put a decent 17 out. I think it's gonna be closer than people think. Mind you bookers have Dobbins red hot fav. But then I do like going in as underdogs when even some of our own supporters have written us off

I wouldn’t class it as writing us off, I’d just class it as being realistic. Their squad is stronger than ours and last time out at home they beat us 40-0 at our place.

Can't just keep paying players off, we probably can't afford it and it sends out the wrong message, sign for Hull, don't perform, get a nice big pay off.

Only way to move Carlos on is if he himself decides his body has had enough....don't hold your breath
